You guys! Bill O'Reilly has a sad now.

Quote:
“Over the past 20 years at Fox News, I have been extremely proud to launch and lead one of the most successful news programs in history, which has consistently informed and entertained millions of Americans and significantly contributed to building Fox into the dominant news network in television,” O’Reilly said. “It is tremendously disheartening that we part ways due to completely unfounded claims. But that is the unfortunate reality many of us in the public eye must live with today. I will always look back on my time at Fox with great pride in the unprecedented success we achieved and with my deepest gratitude to all my dedicated viewers. I wish only the best for Fox News Channel.”

On Tuesday, O’Reilly attorney Marc Kasowitz said the star anchor was the subject of a “smear campaign” fueled by far-left advocacy groups that were after him for political and financial gain. Kasowitz said he would be presenting “irrefutable evidence” that such a campaign was coordinated. He did not return a call seeking comment on Wednesday.

Just because FN axed him, he's not out of legal jeopardy. Should be interesting to see if these cases go forward.

But, HOW COULD HE BE GUILTY? I mean, he can afford the best defense attorneys money can buy! That fact, coupled with the "fact" that he is "innocent", should make his successful legal defense a walk-in-the-park. Right?

I'm partaking in some self-indulgent schadenfreude at the moment. My brother WORSHIPS O'Reilly, and the first thing he does after returning home from his boring job is to tune in to O'Reilly's bullshit show. The last few times we've spoken, he kept rambling about how "IT'S LITERALLY EVERY DAY NOW! LIBERALS WONT QUIT PROTESTING"!

Hehehehehe.

I'm old enough to remember that the memes that came out of it would've put every twitter trend to shame

There was a big phone company outage over the NE US back then. The newspaper (Boston Globe?) had the big front page headline "Reach Out and Touch No One".

Bill O' Reilly gets the axe at Fox and is replaced by ...a younger version of Bill O'Reilly (Tucker Carlson).

I have a good track record for apocalyptic predictions - I predicted the Brexit win and the Trump victory, I actually put my money on the line for the latter and won £60 at the bookies! To be fair, the only reason I bet on Trump to win was because previously everything I have bet on at the bookies has lost/failed/broken a leg... sadly my jinx didn't kick in for this one

The're still around with some landlines at something like 5 cents a minute. They used to be very expensive though and based on how far away you called.

Man, how did you guys make it?

When we went on a trip to Vegas a little over ten years ago, I remember making a "collect" phone call from the hotel to my grandmother. I don't remember how long the call was, or exactly how much the charge ended up being when she got the bill, but I remember her saying it was freaking murder.

She said something about how hotels in Vegas use special phone companies to charge really absurd amounts for collect calls, but I didn't care - I vowed never to use collect calling again after that. Luckily mobile phones with unlimited call plans have made collect calling obsolete.

It used to be the most common to dial 0 and the number for a collect call. Then 1 800 Collect came along with cheaper rates. They are still around, but charging very high rates.

From 1800collect.com's website today based on a landline call from NJ to CA.

Connection fee: $9.99
First minute: $3.99
Additional minutes: $3.99

Five minute minimum

I guess drudge or breibart linked yesterday's NYmag.com breaking story. Going by the comments section and the cretin bill-o fanbois who found their way there, the LIBERAL Fox News not going to have a single viewer left. This melts my snowflake heart to no end.

Yeah that's just insane.

I'd just borrow somebody's phone at that point. I mean, I have a phone; but in the US in 2017 if you by some twist of fate manage to not have your phone on you, there's like a 99.9% chance the first person you stop and ask is going to have one, and like at least 90% (if not higher) they're gonna have unlimited talk.

I'm not enough of an election follower to know what those facts mean, but that's the comparison data. My untutored impression is the Republicans as a whole fared worse.

Yes, my spouse is Deaf so uses the voice on her phone only calling her so she can overlay her voice over video relay calls. If I am on a call for a long time it usually meant I was on hold. We still have an unlimited plan from Sprint simply so we also get unlimited data/unlimited texting and do not have to worry about how many minutes were used.

I do. When I lived in TX, keeping in touch with my family back in MN was something I had to budget for because the cost was ridiculous.
