Gee, what ignorance. It is not well known, but Europeans enslaved Native Americans at first, until there weren't enough left from warfare, disease, and enslavement. Then they turned to African slaves.

Is that normal? Do Hurricanes normally go that direction?

There has been just one hurricane to make landfall in Ireland in recorded history - The Impact of Hurricane Debbie (1961) and Hurricane Charley (1986) on Ireland

The map above predicts this one will not be a hurricane by the time it reaches there.

It is well known and has been for a long time. It's one of many, many, many facts that are ignored or shoved aside because people don't want to know the truth.

The headline is misleading.

As the report underneath it makes clear, what he actually told Breitbart (and I held my nose and went there to confirm it) was that he didn't propose to remove any monuments, no matter whom they commemorate, from federal land since once he starts removing any monuments, there's no telling where it would end, and he suggested he'd end up having to deal with demands from native Americans that he remove monuments to General Sherman and President Grant.

It's a variation on the theme of "Thomas Jefferson owned slaves -- do we have to remove monuments to him, too?"

Thing is monuments like Mt Rushmore were protested. There was even conflict between First Nations people over the Crazy Horse monument.

The Black Hills are sacred ground for several tribes.

Two are dead and as many as fourteen others have been injured after an inmate set fire to a North Carolina prison's textile shop and unsuccessfully tried to escape in the ensuing chaos. The casualties were inmates who were employees at the shop; it's not been reported yet whether the attempted escapee is among the dead or wounded or whether he was himself an employee at the sewing shop.

Strictly speaking yes, that's the direction many hurricanes remnants go eventually. Especially hurricanes that track up the eastern coast of the US; the ones that don't track inland basically turn into kinda nor'easters, for all practical purposes, and skip across the pond.

Indiana girl denied First Communion because she wore pantsuit to ceremony
Quote:
An Indiana girl who was banned from wearing a pantsuit to her First Holy Communion is getting support after her mom's Facebook post has gone viral.

The mother of Cady Mansell, 9, said her daughter planned to wear a white pantsuit to receive the Roman Catholic sacrament last month at St. John the Evangelist Parish in St. John, Indiana.

"Me and my mom were talking about what I was going to wear and I said, 'I want to wear a white suit!'" Cady said. "But I don't really like dresses, I don't like them. They're too itchy."
Being itchy is the main purpose behind being Catholic. But come on, church, look at the adorableness and tell me this is wrong:

If it had been an actual pant suit and not a suit, the church probably would have not batted an eye.

Obviously a wrong question. The correct question is clearly:

Glad I'm not Catholic when they go and pull crap like that. I mean, who cares what she's wearing? She looks good in it!

I assume you mean one not so "mannish" or menswear in appearance. Because a pantsuit is just a type a suit, i.e. matching pants and jacket. But as the article notes:

Shows what I know. Up until now I thought "girls wearing pants" was one of those things the Catholic Church had managed to get past at this point and the only people still calling it sinful were fundy evangelicals.

You ass-u-me too much.

ETA: Sorry about having cut this short. Had unexpected RL to take care of and I almost forgot to come back to this.

My point was (and no I didn't read the article because I already knew catholic churches, for the most part, have a dress code for First Communion) that if it had been a pantsuit tailored for a female, other churches wouldn't necessarily have had any objections. Especially if the pantsuit was tailored to look more like a skirt. Which just makes the glaringly obvious anti-LGBT attitudes all that much more glaringly obvious.

That's what I was trying to point out. That the glaringly obvious prejudice was amplified over what amounts to a choice of jacket style.

A choice of jacket style.

FFS.
