Lightbulb How to Use the New Product Listings Forum

The New Product Listings forum is one of several forums here (along with Events and Recipes) that works a little differently than the rest. When viewing the forum, it shows thumbnails next to the posts, and also has a filter to show only certain types of products, or products matching a company name. You can also switch to a grid view to quickly see the product listings using the Grid View link - or switch back to the standard view with the Detailed View link.

When creating a thread in New Product Listings, in order for the thumbnail image to show up, you must attach an image to your post. You attach images using the icon on the toolbar. The first attached image will be used for the thumbnail. You can attach images from your hard drive, or from an existing URL. The thumbnail will be created automatically - you do not need to attach a small image.

In addition to the image used for the thumbnail, you can attach up to 9 additional images. Please be considerate and keep the file sizes small. You can also embed images in your post from other sites as you can with any thread.

Additionally, when you are creating a thread, you will see several new fields at the top, including a drop down to choose the product type. You can input the name of your business, the SLURL to your location, and a link to the product on XStreetSL if you use it. Except for the product type, these fields are optional.

I uploaded an image "from a url" (from the XStreetSL hosted jpegs) and the system did not create a thumbnail. Could you please have a look Cris, and see if I did something wrong?

Did you use the URL for the page (address bar) or the URL from the Image (right click and select Copy Image Location)? You want the latter (right click the image and Copy Image Location).

( FYI: I ran into the same problem myself yesterday. )

You didn't do anything wrong, all I can figure is that the .jpeg extension is throwing the thumbnail creator. I'll have to delve into the code for it.

All fixed - and it handles PNG. It was the .jpeg extension.
