Tapatalk On Windows 10

If you have Windows 10, the Tapatalk client from the Windows Store has full support for Windows 10's Action Center. This allows you to receive Windows notifications when someone quotes one of your posts or sends you a message. You don't have to have the app open to receive the notifications. Even if you don't use the client to actually view the SLU forums (I prefer using a browser), the notification feature is useful. It has several other notifications as well - you can adjust the settings by clicking on the hamburger menu in the upper left, selecting Settings, then Push Notifications, then SLUniverse.

What happened to the Windows 10 TapaTalk App? I'd like Action Center Notifications to pop on my Windows 10 desktop if possible. If it's gone for good, any 3rd party alternatives?

The main site I need push notifications for is DashCamTalk.com which runs on XenForo

I found this post, and link:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/stor...k/9wzdncrdh9mf

But I get: "We are sorry, the page you requested cannot be found"

What's the history on this, any alternative work around or future app in the works?

What happened is Tapatalk just flat out decided not to make it anymore. There wasn't even an announcement; one day they just removed it from the store.

Up until two months ago there was a similar but superior app called mTalk in the store; it's not available now either. I don't know of any others.

Yeah, as much as I really really like the idea of Tapatalk, more and more I really dislike Tapatalk itself.

The two primary things, aside from the mentioned sudden removal of the Windows 10 app on phones and PC.

People really hate how pushy the forum plug in can be. I think this may have been scaled back slightly but I know it was a complaint when visiting forums on mobile in a browser.

They seem to rebrand or rerelease every so often so your old paid license is basically no longer any good, forcing you to pay again or suffer annoying ads.

I used tapatalk with SLU on my phone when I had an android because the web software wouldn't adapt to the screen size. Otherwise I didn't see the point of having a separate app.

When I eventually get an Android phone, I'm probably going to use it again, assuming it's around then. Unless there's a better alternative. But yeah, on the desktop and tablet I just stick with the plain old website.

(Ad that takes up half the screen: )

YOU CAN USE THIS FORUM WITH TAPATALK, CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD IT NOW!!!
(...or click this tiny X that's so small you'll miss and we'll go ahead and open the Android store for you anyway!)
The funny thing is, I still get the ads pushing me to get Tapatalk for Android, on my Windows phone. The plug-in can't tell the difference. So a browser tab pops up with a patronizing note from Android like, "Look, how many damn times have we been over this? The Play Store doesn't work on your phone, you freaking moron" and I'm like "IT WAS THE AD, IT WASN'T MEEEEAAAARRRGGGHHHH!!!"

I really like the idea of having all of my forums in one convenient identical interface.

That said, this is the only forum I regularly visit that uses Tapatalk. Appeals to others forums have not gone anywhere.

The version I have on my Windows 10 Mobile phone is 2.0.1.50. I don't remember when it last updated. On my Samsung Galaxy Tab S tablet, it updated about two weeks ago.

Tapatalk has always been a strange app supplier in that they seem to have very limited engineering resources, but nonetheless try to cover all bases. In that vain struggle, they always appear unresponsive except shortly after they've released something new.
