| www.slsocialnetwork.com Blog Galleries and more! SL Social Network – Where the SL Residents Meet http://www.slsocialnetwork.com Shortly, SLSN is a social network tool, for second life residents only. In there, you can: -Edit your profile -Create Photo Albums -Post messages on other resident’s message boards -Create Blogs -Create groups, which have group discussion boards, group photo galleries, besides other cool features -Free to use to all the residents, free of adds! To register, click here: SL® Social Network - Where the SL® Residents meet: Register You’ll have to submit your Second Life Full name, like “HugoRafael Decosta”, since you’ll receive in world the link to activate your account. Only this way I can assure only Second Life residents register. You can use a password different that SL one though. Interested in knowing more? Let me go into detail then! The Idea The idea appeared when I searched for a social network, like Facebook, Orkut or Hi5, for second life users only. I found quite some different websites, but none I could call a real Social Network website. That was when this idea shown up In my head, and here’s the result of it. Why? Do I really need such service? Well… not really. But I realized a lot of people use external websites to create photo albums, or to create own blog, so they can publish content otherwise hard to, inside second life. There are also a lot of second life users groups in places like Facebook, but once again they can mix with non-second life users. It wasn’t homogeneous. It was a “workaround”. So that’s the essence of this project: a place, for Second Life Residents only, where they can have their own blogs, photo galleries and their profile. With some other Social Networking features which might be interesting to use. So, why don’t you register yourself and take a look? I invite you all to join us there, among with the beta-testers, and give me feedback about the platform to the e-mail: info@slsocialnetwork.com, or join the SL Group SLSocialNetwork! Hope I can somehow improve everybody’s SL Experience! |

After exploring it a little bit, I sense a lot of differences and things I saw in other social networks, that I had to change in a social networking Second Life oriented. Let me quote the universal Social Network definition: Quote:
slprofiles seems to me, a "profile searching" engine, where a SL resident can change it the way he wants, and even have favorite "profiles" once more. It has also a blog side, and a WYSIWYG editor. Interesting, but it's not exactly how i see a social network. You cant call a social network the "yellow pages" with companies listed, splited by business sector. You may ask now: Ok, what's a social network for second lifes residents then? 1. A place where, in a matter of fact, I can mantain a profile, and add other profiles as friends of mine. A place where, on my profile page you have available all the information regarding me. This is: pages, photo albums, message board, wired posts, blog entries, friends, activity, and some others. 2. Being a SL Social Network, there must be an obligation of associating my profile with a Second Life account. Keeps one of the most basics rules of SL: What you create will be always bounded to you and visible to everybody. 3. It must be easy to use and very accesible. Otherwise the less technical persons wont use it long, and wont join the social network. 4. Use the latest Social Networks features, to increase people's bounds and interactivity. I mean "Message board", shared pages (a page in your profile where others, selected by you, can colaborate with you on it, by editing it), photo albums, wired posts and some other features. 5. Level of security of every action. Acess to a blog entry you create (everybody, loged in, friends or private), acess to a album you create (same rules), view access and edit access to a page you create in your profile, And other features i wont write down, else i make the post too much extensive ![]() I got the chance to explore plurk too and i say same thing i said in the post above. I invite you both to register on the slsocialnetwork.com and see with your eyes what i mean, if you have the spare time to. If you like these kind of networks, i'm sure you will find something interesing on SLSN! | ||

| First of all I apologize, I though I could consider this a residential running website. Since it's a website without add's or any other commercial revenue. Also, I worked it out thinking in the SL residents. Although I'm new on the forum, i'm not new to SL, neither the people helping me out is. I been exploring both rezzed.net and stateentry.com. Both are social networks with a little diferent orientation. State entry is more professional orientated, while rezzed.net looks more like the project we're putting into practice. The main diference is that rezzed is brought to you by a SL company, while SLSN is brought to you by SL Residents. Either way, I apreciate the criticism. But i believe if the ones who replied to me, would have created an SLSN account, would see what it's really about. And thanks for the motivation, it is hard to get a Social Network running, even more when all the effort come out of your fingers and you get nothing with it |
