Some of the people doing OpenSim builds over at IBM has done a neat little build, surpassing 15000 prims.

Thread Title of the Week 
Back in 2003 when sims had a 10,000 prim limit we would work around the full sim message by rezzing items in the adjacent sim and then dragging it across the sim border into the "full" sim.

I furnished a house this way.

That's a private test sim. It's on an IBM HS21, 4 core blade. 4 4ghz cores, 4GB of memory. Ubuntu, and.. scarily sqllite.
