| I feel the need to post this, even though I know this is a smart crowd. As always, please take great care in not attempting to connect to grids with your SL username and password, not only will it never work anyway, but you are essentially giving your password to an address that can do what the want with it. Check and double-check before hitting connect, and even then only to grids you trust on viewers you trust. Especially when it seems shady. (Sorry, original poster.) |

 Seriously, all this person did was throw a new world studio installation onto their cable internet and then announced they were "offering free land" (implying that they would be charging). They didn't put any effort into that shit, seriously. Even trying to cast the OP (who has never come back, mind you) in the best light possible, with the best of intentions -- they're still not something that people should walk into, and not something that they should rely on in any way, shape or form... Sione is right -it's good to be encouraging of people's grids, and even tho one of the awesome things about hypergrid is that seriously any tom, dick or harry can slap together a diva distro and be ready for visitors -- that doesn't mean that we should put up with, or encourage people who think that they can slap up a new worlds install on their cable modem and become the hypergrid's answer to Anshe Chung. I'm ALL for opensim/hypergrid hippy-dippy "community"; that's something that I consider one of the most attractive features of hypergrid. | Hello, I am the founder of DaseinWorld. I would like to reply to some of the misinformation that has been posted in the replies to the message posted by my associate. (1) DaseinWorld is a showcase sim for OpenSim creations. All of the objects are free. (2) There is no economy and there are no fees. Anybody can join except evil hackers. (3) We had a free sandbox for people to use. Unfortunately, its closed now due to two hacker attacks. (4) The purpose of DaseinWorld is to create an enjoyable vr environment for people who love OpenSim to showcase new OpenSim creations. (5) Creators are entitled to a free lot to start the community creation process. Unfortunately, we cannot do this now till groups are set up. This is posing a lot of technical problems for us. If anybody has experience doing this, they are welcome to help us with the administration. (6) The purpose of DaseinWorld is to showcase OpenSim builds, create an enjoyable community based on mutually engaging conversation, and host media events like live music, etc. (7) Right now it is hosted on a home PC. However, it is a very good home PC - 16GB RAM, 2.5 TB storage, and 3.3 Mhz unlockable CPU. That's it! |
