The login screen was set up to spam a site.

The DDOS was the result of ignorance and exhaustion.

The initial reporter of the DDOS (The site owner being "attacked") embellished, at best.

That's bullshit. The initial reporter was Satomi Ahn.

The lab was more involved than you'd imagine. There's a direct connection here between EMKDU, Onyx, and Woodbury's ban.

Yeah sure I have the Emerald forum backed up on my hard drive give me a sec.

Satomi's source was the SOURCE code on the login page when it was still there.

Since the question was a yes/no question, it was hard to understand your words. But after looking good, I think maybe I found it?

I never claimed any videos were any kind of fake.

At a loss for a better term, it was a "negligent" act. To say "yes" would ignore that fact. To say "no" would be utter fantasy.

Against my better judgement, I'll try again. So you will agree that a DDOS occured, and the Emerald viewer was the tool used to do it?

Of course it happened. That's a matter of proven and documented fact.

The matter of why and how it happened has been falsified through manipulative usage of careless conversation.

I'll take that as a yes.

Would you agree that a DDOS is an illegal act?

Also, just got this. Take it with a grain of salt, but, the sender claims it's Oz Linden. If true, it would put an interesting twist in the conditions of Emerald's ban.

http://www.darkly-cute.com/sounds/Oz%20Linden.mp3

It's a collection of separate clips, so, I can't ensure it hasn't been manipulated.

But, to speak about lost trust yet still log in to Second Life... Well...

That, I don't know. Never actually studied law or bothered to read any legal documents regarding DDOS.

Fair enough, would you agree that using the resources of thousands of people without their knowledge or consent to launch a DDOS attack against a rival is unethical?

If on purpose and with malice, yes.

If by the result of ignorance, no.

To kill someone while driving drunk: unethical.

To kill someone after falling asleep behind the wheel: not quite ethical, but, not unethical.

Would you agree that a corporate entity of possibly 60,000 concurrent daily customers actively concealed pertinent security information is unethical?

If so, who do you trust?

Libsl was done by someone else entirely. OpenSim uses the libsl stuff, but it's basically a plugin. The OpenSim developers had nothing to do with the development of libsl however, and that happened before OpenSim existed.

Libsl isn't a reverse engineering in the first place.

Secondly, the OpenSim developers had nothing to do with libsl's development. It happened a long time before OpenSim came around.

Expecting ethical behaviour from a company is a prescription for an ulcer.

I have a legal relationship with the Lab, a contract which they presented, and I agreed to. If they breach that agreement, I have a legal recourse I can follow in the courts, the Lab also has insurance which can cover my losses in case of their negligence.

When it comes to TPV's, this is where the word "trust" comes into play, and where Emerald failied because of people like Frac, and why Avination is under the microscope in this thread.

The MP3 you put up tells me nothing other than Oz was supportive of the Emerald developers. Every single company on the planet has things they don't want the public to know. The bookstore I go to on the corner doesn't want me to know that they get grey market US versions of books in so they can pocket an extra couple of bucks. The hotel I run has maintenance issues I don't want the public to know about. Oz saying the Lab has things they don't want made public tells me nothing.

I'm not asking you to question your loyalty to a friend. I'm asking you to understand that it's very difficult to have trust restored, simply because you wink at us and tell us there are things we don't know.
