I just received my City Developer kit for Blue Mars, and set up my first "city", a 2048x2048 m island. The pics are posted to the photo album here:

Notes:

* This is all done offline on my home computer. Once Blue Mars content is finished, you would upload it to their servers for other people to log on and use.

* I managed to create the island terrain from scratch, apply textures to it, then load up a couple of items I made. The girl in the blue shirt is a demo avatar that comes with the kit. You can switch to "live" mode and walk her around using the same software as the actual game will run online later.

* The rest of the photos are items I made as practice while I learned how their item building tools work.

Update: Added trees and took an evening shot.

Update2: Got a chair working, Yay :-)

Nice pics Daniel.

How did you get the Male avatar? When I go into Preview Mode it is always that girl avi.

Thanks, Rock. Preview mode gets you the girl avi. Running Blue Mars.exe gets the boy avi.

If you run File > Export to engine from the City Editor, it saves whatever things it needs to so it can be run with the Blue Mars.exe directly.

Then I log in with a shortcut that reads in the target box:

"C:\Program Files\Blue Mars City Developer Tools\Bin32\BlueMars.exe" -devmode +ar_startlevel Tirion_BlueMars1

where filename in the \Game\Levels\Tirion\Tirion_BlueMars1 folder is Tirion_BlueMars1.cry

If I want to take photos and not watch the FPS stats, I have a second shortcut that leaves out the -devmode flag.

Created a plywood cube in SL and got it all the way to Blue Mars practice city I been playing with:

(more complicated object failed though)
