Lightbulb Free Realms Card Game Guide

alrighty, i'll make it as short as possible because i'm incredibly lazy.

tcg is a 2 person card game, you are on the bottom of the screen.

the object is to get to 12 points. as soon as somebody gets 12 points the game is instantly over and the person with 12 points wins.

you play in turns, one turn for them, then one for you, back and forth.

you start with some cards in your hand (at the very bottom of the screen). these cards are of 3 'types':

creatures - monsters you play in the battlefield to kill stuff to get points

resources - cards that help you play bigger monsters

action cards - cards that buff your monsters during battle.

ok so let's say it's your turn. your turn consists of 3 parts, called ready, set, go.

ready - you can play ANY card in you hand to the 'bank' which is over on the right bottom of your screen. You want to play resource cards, but if you don't have one, any card will do. No matter what card you play there, you get 1 "gold", and this adds up, so your 2nd turn when you played another card to your bank, you'd get 2 gold that round, 3rd turn you'd get 3 gold, etc.

set - you use this part of your turn to place creatures on the board. the battlefield has 3 slots for you, and 3 slots for your enemy. You want to place creatures on the battlefield.

Each creature has 3 numbers on the upper left of it's card: the first number is inside a gold circle - that's how much gold it takes to place it. The red number below that is it's attack power, and the green number below the red is it's defense power.

So in our first turn, in ready period, we played a card to our bank, and our bank shows that we have one gold. So if we have a 1 gold cost monster, we can put it in any of our battlefield slots.

Go - the third phase is where we fight. If you have a creature in a slot and the other guy doens't have a guy in his, you can 'hunt', which means you basically attack nothing, and get a point (of the 12 you want) because he didn't have anything to defend it.

If he DOES have a creature against you, you guys battle. Here's how battling works:

If you're attacking him, it uses your attack number against his defense number. Let's say you had an attack of 3 and he had a defense of 4. Sounds like he'll win, right? Well not necessarily, because there are some other factors: action cards and gems:

action cards - you can tell these in your hand because they have a number in the upper left that's inside a silver star - that is their cost to play one. You have exactly as many stars to play as you have gold in your bank that turn - for each battle (so if you had 3 gold, you'd have 3 stars, but if you used them on the 1st battle youd get them back on the 2nd battle etc).

what action cards do is modify attack and defense numbers, plus other crazy tricks. So in this example, you were attacking with 3 and he was defending with 4, so you look into your deck and neato! you have a card for 2 stars you can play that is +2 attack, so you play it. Now your attack is 5 and his defense is 3.

He doesn't have an action card to respond with, so the battle commences. what happens here is this:

each of you flips a card from your deck. Every card in the deck has 1 to 4 'jewels' at the bottom of the card. Your attack number is increased by the number of jewels on that random card. So if you had 3 jewels, your attack would go from 5 to 8, and if his card had 2 jewels, his defense would go from 3 to 5.

8>5 = you win, and you get a point yippee! your creature stays there, and his gets wiped off the board.

if you two tie, nobody gets a point and both creatures get wiped off the battlefield.

If you're defending and win, you do not get a point for winning the battle, but the attacker's card is wiped from the board (meaning on your turn your card will be there, he won't have one, and you can hunt his empty slot for a point)

that's really about it. One thing i should mention is that many creatures have special abilities, if the random card that gets flipped over during a battle matches some jewel requirements on them. Like for example, i have a card that gets +2 attack if the card flipped over has a green gem on it.

I welcome any questions, and hope this helps some people to enjoy the card game. I found it hard at first, but now it's sweet sweet crack to me, and the most funnerest part of free realms for me!

Let me know if you want details about anything like deckbuilding, etc

/taco

I think its much easier to understand if you can actually see it.

The problem with the tutorial is that in starts in the middle of the game. It should start you from the beginning of a game and guide you through until the end.

yes i agree. What made it click for me was doing the tutorial then playing a few games going wtf the whole time, then doing the tutorial again.

here, i found some card images on massively that might help some.

Here's a creature card. You can see that it costs 6 gold to play, has an attack of 7 and a defense of 6. Also, it has 2 special abilities; if it wins a battle, any other robogoblin types on your battlefield grant an extra card to your hand, and also if a blue gem comes up on the random card in a battle, you can play a 1 gold cost creature for free.

Action card (see the star around the number?) this is a 2 cost card you can play that will 'wake up' your creature if the other guy stunned it (using an action card of his own), allowing you to continue your fight

Resource card: You can only play these to your bank, not onto the board. This one lets you spend 1 gold to play a 2 gold creature:

Also, when you get to a point where you're trading cards... Look at the lower left hand corner of the cards Taco posted, and you'll see "1 R 28", "1 C 40", ect. The middle letter there is the rarity, C for Common, U for Uncommon, R for Rare.

So when you start trading cards, or setting up trades, take this into account; I.E. don't trade away your rare cards for common(unless you're getting at least a few commons for 1 rare, or cards you really need), ect - you can get a much better deal.

Yours is explained better anyhow. I think we start the SLU tourney some time Wednesday afternoon, right after I get done yelling "Screw you Poe Tatters, you cheat, YOU CHEAT!!" for the second time, but BEFORE I start yelling at Ari the Fish.

I miss Ernie the animal postman Oo and the mushroom warlord, that came in handy a few times. One of the npc players was definitely a cheat, i think it was Jammie or something like that - he totally wiped the floor with me!
