website keeps saying it's offline for me today.

The most annoying thing is that the game servers have been up all day. It's just the website that keeps going down, denying us the ability to login. Sony seriously need to provide a standalone login app so we can bypass the website, but Pex says that they chose not to provide one because the website is part of the game experience.

Oh yeah, the website is part of the game experience in that it lists news about all those friends who friended me without saying hello, and who I can't remove because the friends list functionality has been bugged since beta.

I really think I'll be cancelling my subscription before it automatically renews itself at the end of my first month. I've seen enough of the game now, and the bugs and inability to login during most convenient periods (Saturdays!) mean I just can't be bothered with it anymore. If they resolve the most serious issues maybe I'll pay for another month in the future so I can finish off all the premium professions, quests and games I started.

Yeah, same here. The shiny is wearing off rather quickly, although I did not except to play this game for months and months when I got the membership. I signed up more to try different professions and to stop getting those "oops! sorry, you're not a member. Nya!" messages in some quests. I still find it fun and I can see myself logging in once in a while once my membership lapses, to play mini games etc. I seem to be sticking to free professions anyway so I don't really need the membership. I got sick pretty fast of those bloody Robogoblin Pond Blasters every combat job requires and "come see me when you reach level 5-10-15-20)

I can go through that instance with my eyes closed now.

As for the website, I agree, it's pretty useless at the moment. The news are all days old, you can't check your collections/quests, profiles don't really say anything and my pictures still won't show up. I do like that you can check which server your friends are on though (if you can manage to add people to your friends list that is), and the friends list actually decides to work.

Oh well, gives me an excuse to work on some projects instead of running around with my virtual cat

Today was the perfect gaming day though... nice and rainy. I can't play when it's too nice out! It just feels wrong. hehe

My video card died, so I am running on my onboard video temporarily (until payday). Guess what? No FR, no WoW, no Combat Arms... well, at least I still have SLU.

That must be driving you crazy. I went into extreme withdrawals without mine.

There seem to be an awful lot of video card deaths recently....mine was only 18 months old when it passed away. My dutch confere and I both bought the same systems at the same time 18 months ago and 2 weeks after my card died, his died as well.

Im pretty sure I saw another thread from someone saying their card had died as well...OK I would have upgraded eventually but I usually pass down my older parts to one of the g/kids, thats how they get their upgrades.

Are video cards less sturdy than they used to be or are we hammering the guts out of them?

I've got a feeling it has more to do with brand than anything else. A value card is unlikely to perform as well as, and last as long as, an XFX of BFG card for example.

Incidentally, BFG offer a lifetime warranty in North America and ten year warranty for the rest of the world, so maybe worth considering when buying a new one.

The friend's list has been breaking every ten minutes since beta, but yeah, for the past 24 hours it's been about as much use as a chocolate fireguard.

I got a notification that you logged off earlier Carthalis when your status wasn't showing as online in the first place.

Also Lordfly, you can only add people if they're logged on. SOE deleted our characters when the game was officially launched and I still haven't got several people back on my friends list who were there during beta because we are rarely logged on at the same time. It's very annoying. :/

Every once in a while, I will blindly try to add someone from here in the hope that they are online. I then stare at the screen all hopeful, and then questions start popping up in my head. Are they there? Did they see it? Maybe they're on a different server? Does that matter? OMG!! What if they ignored it on purpose?

It's not good for my self esteem!!

Walker (or anyone else), does it take a long time for the video to upload on your end? It seems soooo slow, I always end up hitting cancel.

Yeah, it is. Fortunately I can still get on Sans' puter when it's not in use by any of the other five people, including her, that may want to use it at any given time, and play those games, but it's still annoying.

S'ok, though, as I am ordering my new computer on May 27. The onboard 6150SE video on these HPs really isn't bad. I'll get us a couple of good video cards a little later on.

I haven't tried to upload to YouTube from in-world since beta. Upon stopping the recording, I minimize the video console (dismissing the upload to YouTube prompt), navigate to

C:\Users\Walker\appdata\LocalLow\Sony Online Entertainment\Installed Games\Free Realms\Videos

(Replace "Walker" with your own login name.)

...encode the relevant video file with DivX, then upload the resulting file to YouTube the regular way. I use the HD1080p setting with the DivX encoder because it produces the best quality footage for YouTube HD.

I mean, it turns red, but the quality doesn't seem any better. Navigate to this page for example:

*Huge* difference in quality compard to the embedded video (with HD pressed) above.
