Well, we had some argument and each side made a point. It still was not in an insulting form like the last post from Lecktor or the postings in OLG forum that always conclude in the same way: if you don't agree with us then f**k off and stay away (in different levels of personal insult). The same tone as in your last posting Lecktor.

Sakai perhaps tries to stab a knife in the back of the ones that not agree with him, and a number of you "key players" follow. But his last attempt was really really lame. I don't need to hide to post my opinion and I never did. I guess he realized that by now.

I'm not against OLG. But I am against the direction it takes. This has nothing to do with improving code and make it a better experience. It has only to do with people, how to make the virtual world a place to feel home, how to attract people to contribute and become part of it. You OLG folks acknowledged that many times, communication is key. Still you try to supress any constructive criticism as soon as it targets your "Guru" Sakai. Who is nothing short of promises, but fails to deliver for months. I hope one day you will be able to look beyond your limited horizon.

Boy (Ms. )

I'm not trying to suppress anything nor anybody Boy. In fact, I avidly encourage and invite people to check it out. It isn't for everybody for sure. You can ask Joshua about how sincere I am in my belief of OLG. Now as far as MY tone ? You fail to mention to the gentle SLU readers what a shitstorm full of antagonism you caused on the OLG forums. It was you, not the people there nor Sakai, who caused the greatest friction in the threads dealing with this discussion. Sakai's post didn't single you out as an ip padder. He simply said that it had been happening. I apologize for insinuating that it was you. That's as far as I'll go.

As far as how you presented yourself and your arguments, yes you can fuck off and don't let the door hit you in the ass.

Jesus Christ, are all the grids run by 12 year olds?

I don't know how enthralled you are with OLG, Lecktor, but you certainly seem to be knee deep. I know you're a foundation member so you have vested interest in that, but "not for everyone" is quite different from "run by a pathologically lying attention whore."

And the tendency of OLG members to scream and cover their ears when anyone criticizes Sakai or OLG is troubling. I don't know what posts Boy's been involved in, but I don't believe it's appropriate for Sakai to insinuate critical threads have been removed because of alt usage when someone asks where their posts went.

You did a great job in fully disqualifying yourself here. I'm impressed. Not many go down to that level and are so successful. Congratulations!

For the interested reader. You can find the mentioned thread here:
Lock out of non-OL viewers - Openlife Grid - Openlife Forums - Discussions - General Chat
I asked reasonable questions backed with technical arguments. Which then were confirmed by Dawny here and in an email to me by Kirstenlee. I was not rude nor did I insult anyone.

Not much else to add here. People's behaviour shows their real character.

Eh I apologize for that, was on the sauce last night.
Look you're entirely welcome to your opinions and we'll just have to differ. My opinion of your behaviour on the OLG forums absolutely differs from yours. C'est la vie. As far as my behaviour I always own up to my faults and mistakes. Telling you to fuck off was one so I'm sorry. Seriously though, I fail to see why you're hanging on to this crusade with such tenet. You stated on the OLG forums you had no interest in the future path of OL.
Take care.

Alright Joshua. I absolutely get it ok?
I'm disengaging with you on this topic.

Its very obvious to any newcomer that Joshua has a deep seated vendetta against Sakai. His desire to lash out in such a childish manner displays the very pathological nature that he accuses Sakai of. I've followed Joshua's rantings for quite some time. He reminds me of some pathetic anime I saw when I was kid.

I've been a member of LCO for a while, but now I'm going to join OLG just to see what all the excitement is about! If Joshua is against it, it must be good. I've been watching their progress and though things might be frustrating at times, they seem to be the only ones making true measurable progress.

I have personally talked with Dawny, Lecktor, Digi and a few others at OLG and I think they are very honest, reliable people.

Thank you Joshua for helping me make up my mind!

Did you see this yet?

Alphaville Herald : Open Life Users Banned from Second Life?

People being banned from SL for being members of OLG or using SI in OLG? How likely is that?

It really is time I removed that shite's RSS feed from my Google Reader account.

I liked the out-of-context quote they pulled from a discussion Adam was involved in last year that had nothing to do with this, but phrased it like they solicited him for comment.

And when even the author is in the comments saying "Well this was edited after the fact without me" that says something about integrity.

I commented on this. High likely they are "banned" by using their own "superior" viewer (which was benchmarked to be slower anyway ).

Sakai was reminded several times about implications of GPL licensing. He continues to intentionally violate the licensing by not providing the viewer source code. Even on direct request. On the other hand fancy features developed by others are promoted as being developed by OLG/3DX. Everybody can make up their own opinion about such behaviour.

Many people gave OLG a deadline of 1 July. I don't think anything substantial will happen until then. The comparison of Sakai with a wannabie car dealer who can't deliver but gives all kind of fantastic promises came up several times in the past and I tend to believe that now.

Well now, you could've substantiated this claim a little better.

As told by forum members Openlifgrid finally decided to follow legal requirements and provides the source for their viewer. The 3dxviewer website came up to life today and indeed provides downloads for viewer and sources OLG failed to offer since it's existence a year back (or so); although legally required by GPL.

I take it as a step in the right direction. It would not help OLG to dive into legal action and reaction of (potential) residents. But more than enough damage has been done already. I appreciate that Sakai finally complies to licensing requirements.

Back to square zero. OLG again fails to provide viewer sources.

Quote:
Guys, I thought you understood the licensing of the viewer code and the legal requirement to provide corresponding, identical source code to the published binaries. Still you fail again to provide these sources. Do we have to go through this discussion now every single release?

Hereby I request the publication of the full and identical sources used for the binaries of the OL viewer v16.3 and all following versions.

Thank you!

Boy... post a thread on slashdot asking what to do about the situation... trust me... that site is full of GPL evangelists.... and as a bonus... OLG will get slashdotted and crash.
