It took me a very long time to read through Prok's blog entry, the subsequent comments, and then this thread, so I feel I have to make a post or all that hard work will be for naught

This story seems incomplete and incomprehensible to me. Nothing about it seems logical at all. I find it very hard to believe that very much of what Prok is saying or accusing Lala of, has actually come from Simone herself. It sounds more like Simone shared some of her frustration with Prok - perhaps about having to pay tier, about being locked out, etc. And then Prok did what Prok always does. He took something very simple and blew it completely out of proportion and used it to launch a vicious attack on LCO and Lala. Until we hear from Simone herself that she felt she had a deal with LCO, or that she feels she was locked out unfairly, or heaven forbid that any content is being stolen, I would take what Prok has to say with a grain of salt.

I suspect, that when Simone does surface, she will be shocked to find all of this drama and will do something to clear it up.

I have to say that lala could have handled it better, but, it looks to me like more of the same sort of thing I have become to used to seeing from both Simone and Prokofy - especially the latter.

That said, lala could have just said it was a billing issue, and left it at that. Further, it's never good to argue with Prokofy, you come out smelling like dog crap no matter what you say, because it's very difficult to remain calm when dealing with that megalomaniac.

In RL this kind of banter wouldnt hit the TV news..but on the net just about any tom dick or Harry can just ramble on about some disgruntled crap and apparently everyone jumps on the bandwagon with comments like " yeah!!" and " I knew it!"
I roll my eyes at crap like this..was "warned" in SL about it..havent even spoken to Lala..not interested.. the whole TOS thing is no different than LL's

Isnt this Just the same thing here? A legal requirement that the wording in the TOS must include this because in order for LCO or SL or OL to even host anothers content this is a requirement.
It was written in LL TOS much MUCH clearer than the above they have made it less obvious now but many ppl at the time started gossiping and forum bitching about how LL ” owned” our content.
We all knew it but none of us actually worried enough about it but at any one time Im damb sure legally they could of taken any content and decided to roll with that instead…they didnt of course!

I despise forums and thats why after almost 5 yrs in SL I have made about 350 posts in SL forums but this is a classic case were I feel I must support the "accused"

Apparently people DO beleieve what they read in tabloid newspapers in RL if forums are anything to go by.
The only difference is tabloid newspapers can be sued for a lot of money for claiming crap...were as I say any looser can issue a statement on their blog or 3rd party forum behind a false ID/avatar name and get away with it even if its libel.

Gotta say that I read Prok's post and fell for it. At first. More fool me.

LaLa - yup, she could have handled it better but that's one of Prok's skillz... getting people so damned angry they post without taking a little distance. You have to admit he/she is clever at the shit-stirring. Sometimes it's really hard not to rise to the bait. I've had to sit on my hands at some of the 'all Europeans are stupid' comments, and others.

Simone - Can't decide if she's a) out of contact (up a mountain without a mobile phone), or silent because b) she either wishes she'd never talked to Prok (when she wasn't up the mountain without a mobile) or c) glad she did talk (so she could let the others do the squabbling and then take a stance once she's in range again).

Agreed. It seems fair, at least for this thread. Now god knows I've had my share of forum fighting with Prok (back at SC), but I think this does make sense.

I've been reading the thread and pretending not to be; it was certainly hilarious in places. My personal belief is that if you have an online business, you have a duty to not be lazy - you should learn how to communicate in a professional way when you're speaking for your company. I don't see evil in this thread, but I do see a boatload of naive.

I don't know any of the principals in this debate, but my alt did meet Simone and found her to be authentic. I worry that she's not speaking for herself here. So we have no idea what she would say in person. And it IS the holiday. Not everyone is plugged in right now.

Prokofy was banned for her inability to discuss anything without attacking people. I highly doubt that's changed or she's gained the ability to do so.

If she wishes to respond to any of this, she has her own blog, where, I'll add, she's banned Cris and myself and Aimee and others from commenting, yet still feeling content to discuss and insult us where we can't reply.

That is unfair, true. It should be a reciprocal deal.

Now if Prok has a tendency to take it RL that's playing with fire and I can see that as a very valid concern. Still, we're talking about someone who can't reply. On the other hand, if there's a valid concern about any of the third party grids it's important that it be aired in public. The only way we have to ensure decent business practice is public pressure, since the laws we need in virtual worlds have not really been made yet.

Anyway, there is just SO much we don't really know until Simone says something.
