We're updating all the regions, and the 'core' services inventory/assets/messaging/grid/ login services.



This is a major update to 3DX (Opensim based) server v.0.6.4



Does this give us the RealXtend functions?



No, although this update may be one of the last based aroud the opensim 'base' as the core. We will be beta testing & developing first before using the 'RealXtend' base as the core.



What will come out of this update?



This completes the updates required to be able to turn on the in world credits system, and parcel transfer. So we'll attempt to get that underway before the weekend.



Special thanks to Teravus, Melanie, sdague, ruudl & other Opensim developing contributors.

Scheduled Outage:



A grid wide outage is likely to last 30mins commencing 8.45pm +8GMT today. (Core Services Update)

A rolling update to all the regions, expected to complete within 3-4hrs of the Core Services update.

As usual updates and live information will be available through the 'poke' system LINK

Updates Completed, very small triage list that we'll cleanup today.

Some of the bigger features of the update include:



-Attachments Persist between login / logout. (don't always make it through a TP Though)

-Physics Improvements

-OpenMV update

-More stability fixes

-Proper script engine catch and kill for script timeouts

-No more ghosts

-Faster Region Crossings

-All core services got an update, improved inventory services

-Touch actions now working on primitives (defined in prim properties)

-more defined main map (see terrain)

-terrain height spike fixes

-more LSL

-autokill avatars that are no longer responding (helps clean out your 'connected' when ur not message)



Please feel free to provide comment on your experience with the new code to this post. We will now prep for an update to turn on in world credits & Parcel transfer Friday/Saturday.

I simply can't imagine going through all this again after living through five years of these exact same developments in Second Life.

Is there some advantage that I'm not understanding?

Eventually. When they surpass SL. It's not quite yet. But it is getting closer.

Surpass how? Do their technical or business models differ from The Grid All Hail The Central Grid as owned and operated by Linden Lab?

Perhaps a comparison sheet would help me understand; if there is any such thing.

I've got some slides in this flickr set that outline the plans and what's coming. The beta grid will launch in a few days with these new features and server code.

Ok, I just got a couple mins to browse and see what is going on. THANKS, Leck for showing the updates. I don't have time to go into the OpenLifegrid.com site and check it out so this made it extremely convenient for me.

Credits are in?!?! Dammit.. I didn't upload all my textures yet.

When I get back from my stuffs I hope the ReX beta is done. I think this is a big.. no, a huge step for OLG to move beyond the other grids in features. Not to take anything away from them.. it is just going to be nice to have an alternative that is not SL like or like the rest. No disrespect in that comment.. just glad to have different flavors. I have been playing some with meshes for objects and wow.. I can't wait to see what they can become in the hands of talent!

OK, not sure when I can check in again. Hi to everyone that sees this. Leck, please say hi to the gang at OLG. I miss that chat room.
