I don't particularly trust them. It's comprised of a lot of people who left SL because of the gambling/banking changes.

I've had one of the people involved lie to me directly. I won't be having anything to do with Central Grid.

Sigh. Whoever it was that read this and thought it was a good idea to contact me in world about the lies I had been told? Wrong move. I'm totally uninterested in speaking to your or anyone else from Central Grid.

Steve
I have an estate in Central Grid since mid Jan. I have 10 sims.

Central Grid is cool place to play, it is alot like SL. It is on the opensim system, so it has all the same things as any opensim place.
I can use attachments, I can give items to people, I rent land in my sims and building is great. You can build anything you want between .001 - 100.00 using the realxtend client.

45,000 prim max per sim is way cool too!

People are spread out all over the place, so if you see 10 people in one space its a party.

There is no money system, since opensim has not made that yet.

Look for me north of the north bridge.

LOL, We all start at post count 1

Central Grid is not comprised of people who left SL because of the gambling/banking changes.
And there is nothing to trust, its opensim you can run your own servers..

LMAO

Reuters posted a story about people looking to other grids, and It had mentioned BCX Bank wanted to move to Central Grid, but since there is no currency they never made the move.
Central Grid started Dec 2007 before the banking ban.

I dont want to be an ass, but facts get twisted when people dont know them.

I was asked by Steve to come here and comment on this thread.

Saying that right out would've made you look less like a shill.

Oh, wait, you're pimping sims on another thread. Never mind.

SECOND LIFE, Jan 25 (Reuters) - On Tuesday, Steve Smith of BCX Bank had to shut down operations in Second Life. But Smith isn’t going quietly into the night.

Smith has purchased 11 sims on Central Grid, a rapidly-growing world based on the open-source package OpenSim. In Central Grid Smith hopes to expand his financial empire in a way never possible in Second Life, offering not only interest on deposits but printing his own currency a la Linden Lab, tentatively to be called the “Central Grid Dollar (CG$).”

“[The ban] forced us to reevaluate things and step up our game a little,” Smith said. He’s still working out the details, but Smith’s plan is to peg the Central Grid dollar to the American dollar and back up all currency sales with real-world cash.
So, they didn't make the move?

Nope, he bailed out and is NOT in Central Grid for along time now. That was a Jan report.

Sometimes people think Opensim is exactly like SL, but it is not.
It looks like SL, and some things are better than SL, and some are not developed at all yet.

There.com, Burningsea.com, entropia, Central Grid, OpenlifeGrid & a MMORPG here in SL and it can be used in others but these are the ones we are concentrating on.

Nina thinks there's a "Hive Mind" because a number of us find her intolerable, so every time there's a dogpile on someone new she thinks it's because of some dark conspiracy.

All of which is sideways to the topic at hand.

Personally, I'll poke you briefly with a stick, then get bored and ignore the thread when you and Joshua start going serious rounds. Welcome to SLU, have you considered an intro post?
