Of course we can use any fucking words we want to fucking use. That doesn't mean people want to fucking read it. Not when it consists of ten squillion words, somewhere amid which you'll find the relevant point in a single sentence of garbled English.

As for contractions popularised by usenet: I prefer them to the endless faux auto-biographies and shitloads of whoosh TYVM.

A little thing about IQ tests? They measure you against others in your age bracket at the time of your test. There is a lot of brain development after age three. It seems that something went horribly wrong

That is quite amazing especially as the Weschler Intelligence Scale for Children (the primary IQ test for pre-school children) has a maximum score of 155. Maybe the Professor was using the extended WPPSI-R which does extend the range upwards to 160 ... no that would still not do - and anyway Weschler didn't publish the WPPSI-R until 1989 so unless you are rather young it wouldn't be available ...Possibly it was one of the Adult Scales such as WISA (155) or the Stanford Binet (160) or maybe the Cattell IIIB - nope not even that scores above 161 .

Also out-thinking 99.9% of people at the age of 3

They give IQ tests to 3 year olds?

------

And if they do ---

How were they able to give this person one?

Since the test is either written (implying the ability to read)

Or oral (implying an ability with language)

Such a 3 year old would have to have an extremely advanced ability with language.

Oxford being in England, I'd assume that language to be English.

Am I supposed to believe this person had an outstanding ability with language up to age 3 and has not progressed since?

Very interesting. How are these tests given? What Im thinking is that if this person is say 20 ..

Since their language skill seems obviously below average ..

At age 3 they would have barely been able to communicate. Let alone score extremely high on a standardized test.

I was given an IQ test at age 8. It was mostly Oral. It required me to pay close attention to what the test giver was saying.

And of course - The giver gave no score - because of my age. The test was to determine if I had a learning disability.

I wonder if he knows Carol Vorderman has left Countdown.

He should totally apply for her job.

Maybe steer clear of the letters games though.

Yes you are correct, it does take a fucking autobiography to write "did not read, post too long" than typing tl;dr. I thought for the longest time that it meant tool;?

And what the fuck is the auto-biographies comment about? Both "person who's name I can't remember" and Lordfly added auto-bio stuff. Who the cares about Lordfly's dishes? At least the other one seemed to be realitively germane - played all these other games, so not new to gaming. Of course then there was all those unnecessary cracks about age, and even more unnecessary explanation of how much of a genius they are, taking A-levels at 13 (whatever that means).

The WPPSI-R I mentioned has a lower limit of 3 years (its for 3 to 7 year olds) - The tasks are more conceptual and visual than verbal (constructing items, maze problems, completing drawings and matching rotated geometric shapes etc) - There is however a verbal and arithmetic reasoning components - testing vocabulary and sentence construction.

But back OT ... Well he (I'm guessing gender here) may have been a very bright 3 year old but I'm suspecting he bumped his head failing off his bike at age 5 poor dear.

Urban Dictionary would have solved it for you in a second.

...and as you can see, it's generally used in a humorous/sarcastic context anyway. I've gotta feeling Xander would have got that.

Well I think Lordfly was being humorous when he mentioned his dishes. The other guy however, was being deadly serious with his auto-biographical details.

Also, the suggestion that Lordfly is clueless with regards technology and MMOGs like Second Life and EU, is quite possibly the funniest thing about the whole post. Talk about not doing his homework.

Hey, I was just quoting you and talking about the other guy, not attacking you. Maybe my fucking came over more strongly than your fucking?

aaaaaaaand not doing basic research plus arrogance and a know-it-all+you-know-nothing attitude is a very good way to lose your audience.

Unneccessarily lengthy explanations are also a good way of losing your audience.

Put both of the above together and voila: tl;dr all over the place.

Interesting

So to get the top score a test taker would still need a basically perfect score on the language portion of the test, as well being able to follow instructions on all the non language portions, etc.

Most likely, someone unusually gifted in math and spatial awareness, etc, but average in language wouldn't be able to get a top score, only score high in certain areas?

Similar to adult IQ tests.

------------

I am still voting for the Mary-Sue story.

But your dropped-on-the-head story also makes a lot of sense.

Walker totally pawnd the internets today.

What the hell is a defender of all things EU doing in a SL based forum, and what the fuck did he expect? Did he think we would all change our minds, quit SL and run to EU? I'll stick with the game that has people I love, pays me, got me RL work, and helped me meet Trent Reznor. That's right Second Life and my friends here helped me meet Trent fucking Reznor. What had EU done for you lately????
