Does anyone know of an alternate download site for HKO? I tried to use their main website/main download at MMO site, but, uh, it's really clogged. A 16-hour download, apparently.

And yes. I'm talking about Hello Kitty Online.

And no, I'm not joking!

I used their BitTorrent link. Took about 45 minutes.

Their beta program really sucks though. You get "invited" which really just means "sign up at the sanriotown site," which is Sanrio's "MySpace for Kids." Then you have to use your sanrio mail address to request beta access, EVEN THOUGH YOU WERE ALREADY SUPPOSEDLY INVITED.

I requested access three days ago and still haven't gotten it.

It's disarmingly cute, but OHMYGOD this game sucks so hard. It's like a complete distillation of the "Korean grind game" formula: Zero customization, LOTS of grinding, purchase in-game items to not suck.

Client takes 3-4 times longer to load and login and UNLOAD as WoW.
Movement is all click-to-run based. No WASD or arrow keys.
Performance rather crummy/stuttery despite being no more technically advanced than Maple Story.
No tooltips or in-game descriptive text of any kind. You have to click every button to see what it does.
The first mob-drop collection quest you get requires you to get 50 drops. FIFTY fucking drops for your first mob-killing quest.
When defining your avatar you have 4 options: M/F, skin tone (3 choices), hair (3 styles, fixed colors), face (3 options). That's only 54 possible character combinations.
You can only be human.
Quests don't give you any indication of where stuff is. They just say "go talk to so-and-so" as if you know who they mean.
The conversations with NPCs are very poorly thought-out. You might get 2 pages of text from them, then you have to talk to them again to get some more text, etc, etc, before they hand you a quest. I had to talk to one NPC 5 times to get my first mob drop quest.
Overall, the game requires FAR too much clicking.

Oh yeah, when I was on people were complaining that all their inventories and quest logs were cleaned out. I've heard they do server wipes all the time. It IS beta, but if they keep wiping the servers, how are beta testers ever supposed to test/explore non-newbie content?

Yeah, arrow keys would be nice and it is a clickfest. But...it is CUTE!

It didn't take long to load for me at all.
