| Hi, I'm an old SLU member but this is my first post here so be gentle ![]() I couldn't decide if I had to post this on the SL or OpenSim forums and support channels since I'm not sure if it is an issue of the SL viewer or the OpenSim server (even if I suspect it's the former). So I suppose the best is to post on this subforum that has experienced readers from both worlds. Here's the issue in brief: I'm using OpenSim with the SL viewer (as a standalone or remotely on my home network) mostly to test my clothing textures before uploading to SL. Today I installed the new "adult certified" SL viewer v1.23 and when I connected it to OpenSim, to my big surprise the "Underpants" and "Undershirt" Tabs on Appearance Mode are nowhere to be seen! A second surprise came soon after when I opened my inventory. The clothes that were previously created with SL v1.22 on the undershirt and underpants layers are not visible in the inventory, while the clothing on pants and shirt layers are normally visible as before! Here are two screenshots of v1.23 and v1.22, highlighting the issues. http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/9364/capturev122.jpg http://img512.imageshack.us/img512/6974/capturev123.jpg Also notice on the Preferences Window on capturev123.jpg that the rating is by default selected as: "I want to access content rated: PG, Mature and Adult", so I suppose that it isn't a PG-only rating issue. Before I open a JIRA, could someone tell me if this is reproducible on their system? I've tried both viewers on Vista and XP and I'm getting the same behaviour with SL v1.23 + OpenSim. However, when I connect to the LL SL servers with the v1.23, everything is normal like in v1.22, i.e. I can create and view Undershirts and Underpants, even when I login with my non-adult verified Alt. And since I'm not very into the OpenSim code or development, do the more experienced of you think that this is an issue of the OpenSim or of the new "adult" SL viewer? If it's the latter, and it is some kind of a secret future code of the SL viewer, this is quite alarming not only for my business that will go bust but also for the future LL direction until the complete Disneyfication of SL. I'm sorry for the long post and any English language mistakes, not a native English speaker here. |

My Mood: | That sounds like it's all a viewer issue. OpenSim doesn't have any adult stuff flagging in its code, so probably the viewer defaults to PG if it can't detect that you're allowed to access mature stuff. |

| Thanks Joshua, does that mean that they've added some code in the new "adult" SL viewer that could potentially hide the underwear clothing items in the inventory *and* the creation of any underwear items for anyone that is not adult verified? It's quite puzzling, since most clothing items on undewear layers are considered as PG or (with a stretch) mature. The second puzzling thing, is why I see this behaviour only when I connect the new SL viewer on OpenSim but not the LL servers. |

My Mood: | I'm not really sure what they've added. Only thing I could think to explain it would be the viewer looking for something server-side that OpenSim isn't providing. The LL servers are, so you don't see it. But I really don't know, I know there's nothing in OpenSim to deliberately cause that, and it's more likely it's something to do with the new viewer release since nobody's reported that before to my knowledge. Maybe the point of hiding the underwear stuff is to prevent you from taking it off. |

| I guess we have to wait and see if this issue reproduces as more people will start using the SL v1.23 to connect to OpenSim. And if you are able to do the same, I would appreciate if you could report the results or it is just me that I drunk too much coffee |

| I am unsure if this is related to the avatar layers they are working on. I'm hesitant to jump to the conclusion that it has something to do with the adult content brouhaha yet. I know some of the functionality to support avatar alpha and layers was coming in with 1.23, though its not exposed yet.

"Well, then," the Cat went on, "you see, a dog growls when it's angry, and wags its tail when it's pleased. Now I growl when I'm pleased, and wag my tail when I'm angry. Therefore I'm mad." "I call it purring, not growling," said Alice. "Call it what you like," said the Cat. |

| Nope, definitely related to the adult content brouhaha, sorry. Looking at the code, what they've done is replaced the old Teen Grid flag with a new one that has three levels: PG (teen, no access to underwear, PG regions only), M (mature/unverified adult, PG and M regions only), and the new A (verified adult, can access all regions including adult ones). Since OpenSim wasn't sending the new flag, the viewer defaulted to the most restrictive option. |
