| It waits... ![]() | did I lose mySQL profile or just wipe the db? Well, I updated to 6.3 release and neglected to backup my opensim.ini... First off I won't be that stupid again ![]() Secondly, it seems that something went wrong with the new install and I'm not sure what happened or how I may recover - call it Moorphy's law. After the fresh install of 6.3 loading failed (which I can't reproduce now, but it got about to the scene loading when it crashed) and after nosing around I found the ScriptEngines folder with a (red!) What ever that means or may be indicating about the install or subsequent crash, so be it, but that should't affect how a proper install can connect to the db should it? Further more I reset mySQL password for opensim with a wildcard just to be certain I had it right: Code: SET PASSWORD FOR opensim@0.0.0.0 = PASSWORD('myNewPassword');
Which to that effect I'm thinking that I may have used a specific url the first time I created the db, could that be what my problem is? How would I find that other url now? So now I've skimmed through the new opensim.ini and configured for mySQL, physics, scripts etc. and opensim connects to mySQL just fine, but when I try to use my old avatars name and no password (as it was before) hippo tells me that the name and password are wrong, so apparently it's connecting to the wrong db (a newly created one) or the old one no longer exists (which I'm betting it's still in there, but I wouldn't bet too much!) At this point I'm stuck (I've already said my farewells and hoping for the best, yadda yadda ) - any suggestions would make a lost puppy grateful, whether or not it is found.

| It waits... ![]() | ahh! accounts_authenticate = false got my inventory back, now I have to get the region to load. I'm guessing that's in the regions > xml file so I'll go from there... Eventually I'll have to make an oar with all my old junk from various mySQL and sqLite dbs and create a new user to keep it all in one inventory, now with permissions in the ini that should be a lot easier to do and what not with estate db connections when enabled easier to manage. Thanks for your comment Ramonna |
