Viewer information

I think i have worked something out but would like some confirmation,

Hippo viewer and all the rest need the SL viewer to be installed as well ,

The problem is i am trying to run up opensim and due to the machine i have it on, it is impossible to download the SL viewer as it is classed as a game and blocked by Websense.

Where are you trying to do this if websense is used? My advice would be to contact whomever is responsible for the websense installation and ask for an exception.

Failing that, just use meerkat - The Meerkat Viewer for Second Life

Have you tried downloading the viewer directly from the amazon web services site instead of via the secondlife site
here is a link to v1.22 of the viewer

Thanks, i work away from home and apart from mobile phone GPRS i can only use the company network - and they recently locked down all our laptops permanently to use websense so that we can no longer listen to radio in our hotel rooms.. Nasty arent they

You can install any viewer you want on another machine. Then simply copy the installation directory to your laptop (usually c:\program files\secondlife). As long as there are no other blocking policies it may just run, but I guess you won't have much fun using GPRS.

why not just get a usb memory stick, install operating system of choice and whatever else you want on it, then u can just boot from the stick instead of the hard drive

or just ask the admin to add an exception. If they won't, then you could be radical and use your own internet connection.
