HTC Wizard. It's crashed 2-3 times in as many years.

With the death of the payphone, it has become a necessity here to have when you are out, even if just used for emergency situations. It is possible to not let it overtake your life if you limit your use of it.

Yes, you did! I had not heard of that company until you mentioned it, and did some internet research afterwards. I was very pleased to find that Sprint offered something by them. I went into the store fully intending to get a Blackberry, but the lack of a camera on all but the Pearl was a big deterrent. Factor in the tiny buttons, and the specialized BB data plan necessary, and that's what drove me away from Blackberry.
The keypad on this set is fantastic, I never have a problem with mispunching buttons. (I have man hands ) I also love the big beautiful touch screen, and the comfortable Windows OS. (I'm running Windows Mobile 6 btw, not 5 as I said above)

Perhaps it is just a hit or miss thing with various models. I keep wanting to upgrade my phone, but I am a flip phone fan and for what I use my cell phone for, my 920 is still perfect.
I'm a big fan of Samsung phones, my last 3 have been Samsungs. I do miss my A900, it was the perfect size, with a huge screen for a conventional phone. I never really got upset at the crashes, because I pushed that phone to it's absolute limits as far as net usage, etc. My actual biggest gripe with that phone was the lack of expandable media

Anyway, I'll shut up now, I'm exposing my pocket-gadget fetish.

Nope, never crashes, ever. I had my phone stolen by someone stupid enough to take pictures of his buddies and upload them to my carrier account for my viewing pleasure. Had he made more than $300 worth of calls to Jamaica, those photos probably would have been more "interesting".

When shopping for a replacement, I got the lowest tech phone that I could. I don't need to surf the web, take pictures, have custom ring-tones, and so on. Buying a low end phone was actually difficult. I finally wound up with a Sanyo VI-2300 which I can drop on the floor without a care, hell I could probably drive my car over it. The battery never runs out.

Does that make me a neo-post-luddite?

Yes, it does. You need a phone that can play Super Monkey Ball on a 2 inch screen, has a 'Big Pimpin' Jay-Z ringtone (with custom sexay Akon ringback tones for the ladies), has T9 text input that understands that the obvious first choice when pressing 2625 is the word 'cock', and has a camera phone with video so you can catch the police tasering kittens and black people and that you can use to take suggestive photos with autoupload to both MySpace AND Facebook, and coming soon, Snapzilla. Otherwise, you're just LAME.

Oh, if I'm going to be needed, I can get access to a mobile (my eldest has 2), but over here, bars still have payphone., There are plenty of public ones still here too, and the friends and family I visit all have phones, and those who need to know, know the nimbers of the places I go.
So, over here, at least, theyre not a neccessity yet.

Freebie "renew every two" LG-VX8300 is my phone from verizon.

It never crashes, but, since it hit 18 months the battery can't hold a charge more than about 8 hours. My wife took her Razr (same age) to the store to have it replaced because it wouldn't charge anymore. She was told that batteries last about 18 months, even though verizon contracts are 24 months. Lovely.

If does then I am one too. Just give me a phone that rings, I can hear it and make calls out. If I want to surf the web, that's what they made computers. If I want to take pics, I own a camera.

Yeah, all I need now is a utility belt with lots of attachment points from which to dangle my mobile phone and still camera and video camera and mp3 player and portable video player and portable gaming console and laptop computer.

There's nothing worse than having to put all that stuff in my pockets.

Tell me about it. You'd think somebody would invent a device that integrates all that stuff.

I have a MotoRazr as well and quite a few times its been slow to react and it has froze up on me just twice since I've had the phone. I've had it since last September.

Oooooooooo I just got my new phone and I did NOT have to sign a contract just do prepaid. It was a Nokia 6126

I picked it up for about 20 bux refurb and I've put Opera Mini on it and so I can surf sluniverse.com with mostly normal formatting in the dark slu skin! But my old eyes are going to FALL OUT from reading the tiny font!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL I can see I am going to have to upgrade my data plan... probably will wind up with two phones, one for data and one for actual calls so I don't have to worry about the battery. Prepaid only for me though.

For me the killer app on this is traffic:

and web Yahoo Messenger doesn't cost anything beyond the data usage.

Have new toy will travel.

OK this sounds like an ad but I'm just in new toy mode is all
