Uninteresting but sincere question: Why are some words, like "SL", underlined with dots in posts? It looks a bit like a link, but clicking on it does nothing, right?

It's a bit of code for abbreviations. If you hover over SL you see the text Second Life pop up

It is a feature of the software that helps to optimize the forums in Google and other search engines. It spells out the abbreviation for the search engine while still keeping it in its original form. It does it for SL and SLU. I think I can turn off the underline though so it isn't noticeable at all, I'll have to check.

Edit: I removed the underline, though it still will show a popup if you move over it. It turned out to be a little tricky to turn off - I thought it was a normal underline like a link, but it turns out that it was a dotted border. I'm sure that is more than you wanted to know.

The Nobody Cares thread is kind of a tradition - it is just a place people post random things that they want to say that nobody will probably care about. For example, "I think my cat is trying to kill me" or "My neighbor just got taken away by Homeland Security". It is sticky for convenience, really.
