Not really feeling up to complaining to them today - think I should wait a day until I feel more calm and less angry.

Yes, you don't want to march in there pissed, but like I said. Maybe you should collect a bunch of letters from people you work with saying how much they value you and want you to stay there and take it with you.

Not going to beg.
To be honest, this job is short term anyway with no chance of promotion or rise in pay, so maybe it's time to make a break and get a permanent job.
I've been offered English conversation classes to teach for 4 hours a week at 8000yen per hour, so at least that's a start. Maybe I can ask that company if they want to make me fulltime from August.
If not, maybe I should go to England, get an extra teaching qualification, then go back to Japan and find a private company.

Rich old weird guy who took me out the other night, and put me in a headlock, says he can house me while I look for work.

This is because the government says we should be employed for 5 years, but my BOE is ignoring them and choosing to get rid of me instead.

yes, i relate to this 100%.
i think a big part of it is the lack of children.

Seriously, I've never had a problem with my age until recently, and perhaps because I go out with somebody several years older, and so many of my everyday friends are several years younger than me, I tend to feel (and act ) younger than my years. As I get older though, people I haven't seen in years suddenly turn up out of the blue, and although they're the same age, they sometimes look like this...

...and their eighteen year old kids flirt with me because they think I'm hot 28/29 year old dude.

This kind of happened at the pub last night. A guy and girl turned up who I went to school with. They got married shortly after I last saw them...1989 and they had two boys over the next two years. The eldest kid's girlfriend was present, and was behaving really inappropriately.

I had a better rapport with their kids than with them, talking about music... clothes... gaming... cars, and their father seriously gave me the creeps when he referenced (in private) a sexual encounter we had when we were teenagers. He's a dirty old man when he mentions that now, not a cheeky, smutty, oversexed kid.

Anyway, this whole age related identity crisis is dragging me down now because I always feel like I should exude the kind of mature, responsible attitude that my heterosexual schoolmates do whenever I bump into them.

What a strange post this was. I'm just thinking aloud, and not editing.... I'll no doubt regret it later.

To be honest, it will just be "why are you doing this?" and my boss will go silent for 5 minutes until the people walk away.
That's what he does with me.
Every phone conversation about a topic where any confrontation at all may occur, ends with him going silent for 2 minutes, me saying "hello, are you still there?" and then him saying "can I hang up now? bye! <click>"
I've never had such a cowardly boss before.

I've had a few like that. I don't know what's worse, them just refusing to respond, or trying to blow smoke up your ass.

Thank you for giving me a clue what a 'breakout' is.
