Too late for ya now, Isab, but what I did to ensure a pleasant wisdom teeth removal experience was the following:

The moment I woke up from the general anesthesia, and the surgeon asked me how I felt, I said "I'm in a lot of pain."

It wasn't true, I barely knew where I was, but doing so ensured I got some freakin crazy painkillers...I could close my eyes and watch Ren and Stimpy cartoons. Ones I've never seen before. Good ones, too.

*sigh*...good times.

Today is not so bad, last night was exceptionally shitty but the pain has settled down to a dull throb now.

Josh - one thing they never tell people your age is that most of the damage to your teeth doesn't show up until your 40's. Something to look forward to!!

Once you've ended up with a root canal, you will find yourself suddenly very motivated to get cavities filled pronto. Trust me.

166 posts is nothing compared to what I'm capable of.

It'll be downhill from here Isablan; only the first day is really hard. Ginger Ale will help keep your stomach settled til you can eat. I hated having this done when I was 18 but am so glad now that it's behind me. They sent me home with Darvon suppositories just like I took after my sister ripped half my face off and my lips were sewn together for weeks.

I've been keeping to myself of late, not wanting to interact with anyone , so here goes

About 10 years ago, our Great Pyrenees had been murdered, and I was looking for another to replace him, and I saw a ad in the paper for a Great Pyrenees, unkown age but believed to be under 2 years old.

Well I took a drive out to this farm to look at the dog, and was taken inside a barn, and back in the corner was a stall filled with chickens, and the Great Pyrenees. I took one look and coundn't believe what I saw, the top of her head, ears and tail were completly hairless, and covered with bloody scabs, the chickens had done this by pecking at her. The rest of her was not much better, as she was literly laying in chicken crap. And the kicker was, the people that had her not only didn't see anything wrong with this, but wanted $75.00 for her.

Well I packed her up in the car, took her home, nursed her back to health and for the last 10 years she was the most wonderful companion anyone could ask for.

Well about 2 months ago, she went lame on one of her front legs. The vet thought it was a sprain, as he could find nothing, but suffice to say she did not get better. Xrays a couple weeks later didn't show anything, so I made a appointment at a animal hospital for a cat scan for the following week.

Well it turned out she had inoperable bone cancer and he said that given how fast it had progressed, she probably only had a month or so before the pain would be to much for her to bear, even with medication.

A week ago Monday, she was put to sleep, our vet came to our house, and I held her as she drifted off. She's resting now under the weeping willow in our back yard.

I know that some my find this trivial, but she truely was my best friend. When I would come home from work, she would hear me pull up, and be looking out the window waiting for me, I still catch myself looking at the window thinking she will be there.

Rest in peace Cassie

Victoria,

To use a quote from a friend who has dogs, you just did "The best, and most difficult thing" you could have done. I don't look forward to the day when we have to go down that road with our dog.

There is nothing trivial about it. The love of a pet is one of the few glimpses we get in life of unconditional love. Well, I like to think my cat Sonic wouldn't sell me out for a better offer at least . Pets have a profound way of becoming a deep, meaningful part of your life, and their loss is as devastating as the loss of any loved one. My heart goes out to you. I have had to put two beloved pets to sleep, and the decision is always heartbreaking.

One thing I would recommend is that, if possible, you immediately get another pet. They can never be replaced, but being able to channel your pain and loss into loving another animal can certainly help to get you through. I'll even give you Sonic if it would help

I'm terrified of doctors and surgery and I don't think I can even handle getting one removed. I've put off getting a cavity filled for almost a year because it gives me anxiety attacks scheduling the appointment.

Big hugs to you and your gums.
As someone who has spent about 10 8-hour days of the last 2 years in a dentist chair getting most of his teeth extracted/cappted/filled I implore you to get your teeth fixed sooner rather than later. Remember: no one wants to make out with a guy with dentures.

First a quick hug to Victoria, my condolences, Victoria.

I suppose I should add that a few hours ago I took a shower and I fell dead asleep afterwards. I do feel quite rested though...I went to bed at 11:00, but kept getting up in the middle of the night for mundane reasons. Anyways, I am a happy Squee now!

I got a random email today from someone who found my site by searching for the name of this guy I had a crush on in 9th grade. She apparently knew the guy when they were both like 10 and had gotten to me because I had off-handedly mentioned him in an entry last year.

She was trying to get in touch with him so I poked around for a myspace profile; I hadn't talked to him or anyone regarding him since I was 16. The last I heard he'd gotten really heavy into drugs and shit and it looks like, six years later, not too much is different for him.

Ah well.

I really don't want to go to work tomorrow. I used to really enjoy my job - cool coding challenge, running a small, but talented team of developers / techies... and lately all it seems I'm doing is nonsense template forms for state bureaucrats who have their heads up their collective asses.

State of Georgia, I'm looking squarely at YOU.

ARGH!

Consider yourself lucky - my pang is still enormous. And that is on top of being out of town all day yesterday, so I didn't even get reminded for 24 hours.

Damn. :argh:
