I guess the whole arrest and everything is Letterman's way of turning it down, then.

FWIW, I got the opportunity to work with David Letterman for a day (a long time ago, when he was still on NBC doing "Late Night") and for the whole long day, he was nothing but professional, courteous and friendly. He didn't go out of his way to fuss over us and our dogs (who were playing the part of his poodles during a segment meant to poke fun at the old "Home" show with Rob Weller) but whenever he was with us and the dogs, he was kind and courteous. He even sent someone out with a wad of cash to get everyone Kentucky Fried Chicken when the catered lunch turned out to be crappy. At the end of the long day of shooting, he took the time to talk to us, take a picture with one of the dogs and thank us for being patient during all the hurry up and wait that comprises so much of filming anything. The most touching thing, to me anyway, was that he was terribly worried about the fate of this huge fish that was in the bathtub (another "joke") and he insisted that the crew release the poor thing into the creek that ran next to the property where the filming took place.

I know that one day doesn't really qualify me as an expert on Letterman's personality and behavior but I've worked with others in the entertainment field who showed their true colors right away and didn't even attempt to be nice to the extras and crew (Jon Lovitz comes to mind).

Anyway, I hope Dave weathers this storm and comes out stronger at the end of it.

Dave has sex with interns. He should know better. However, I think the screenplay angle is laughable. Let's kill all the lawyers.
