| I'm 64 and I recently had to go on the roof to block off the vent above the stove, where a bunch of bees seemed to be considering setting up a new hive. Three had already come into the kitchen so I didn't have time to wait for someone to come home and hold the ladder. We have a flat roof so it's just the part about climbing over the parapet that's a little dodgy. Glad to hear Mrs. B. is okay. |

| My oldest nephew graduated from high school today. ![]() My older brother brought out his Harley when he reved it my twin niece and nephew both started crying. My niece was scared and said she wanted to go in the house. My nephew held up his arms because he wanted to get on the Harley. (Still don't know if I'm going to be a granny) |

My Mood: SL Join Date: 25th May 2007 Blog Entries: 1 | Flew back this morning with a nasty cold. The cold is my gift from rainy florida and my comeback for running round a waterpark in the rain in my shorts just so i could climb a 120ft tower to slide down a nearly vertical slide getting a forced wedgie at 55mph! Had a really great time despite the rain. We had some lovely sunny days too. The only thing un magical about Disney is the food and the queues. Though my top tip is take your dad in a wheelchair... great for legitimate queue jumping, except when he can't do the ride and then you have to wait. So recovery days now while i get rid of this cold and cough and sort out a ton of pictures and do all my laundry. |

Yeah the stove vent is still sealed off. Putting in some wire mesh to keep out bees but let out fumes is on our list of things to do. But we don't do very much cooking on the stove any way. | |

My Mood: SL Join Date: 25th May 2007 Blog Entries: 1 | Why is it that the last thing you think about when going on holiday is what food will be left in the house when you get back? I always assumed i'd get some supplies on the way home as i have to pass a few stores and it's easy enough to get some bread and milk etc. But my head was a mess... still is. Stuffed up, full of gunk and throbbing continuously... I was lucky to have some still in date milk in the fridge, but no bread and i have lemsip. But i want some toast!!!! I want to be able to order toast delivered to my door at 7am! There are no takeaway breakfast cafes near me with a delivery service! |

| It's a good thing I didn't move to the Pacific Northwest. I am so sick of this frickin' rain I could scream. I am trying to re-increase the number of miles I ride my bike to 10-15 per day. It's really hard to do taht when it is raining every effin' day! |

| I have a black cotton jumper dress that I got from Oregon Cotton Mill. It's comfortable, well made, has pockets - and most importantly - it's long enough. That last one is a big issue for me since I'm 6'1." Vermont Country Store carries jumper dresses, but they'd only come to just past my knees. I like my skirts longer than that. Anyway, I jumped on Oregon Cotton Mill's website today to order at least one more jumper dress (maybe 2), and they're gone!!! I've emailed both Oregon Cotton Mill and the maker asking where's my jumper, man??? I love that damn thing!!! Last edited by Zaida Gearbox; 06-11-2012 at 01:28 PM. |

My Mood: | Son #1 (24) has a girl he's been talking to online for a few months. Plans were made for her to visit this weekend (staying in a hotel). (Nevermind for YEARS, he's made fun of me for talking to "unknown" people on the internet, because they're not REAL or real friends. *smug face*) So he just comes to me. She went to the doctor today, arrived at work 2 hours late. Handed in her timesheet late, and the job says she won't be paid on time. Gets her check a week late. Won't be able to eat or pay rent. (So, how the hell is she paying for a ticket from Vegas to NYC?) Is it possible to send cash through the mail? Um, HELL NO. First I went through explaining you never send cash through the mail. Then I go into, you've only known her three months or so. You don't make shit, you can't send her money to pay rent/food, etc. So, after that, he walks away. Then the cynical bitch in me wakes up. Is this going to affect her coming her this weekend? Probably, possibly. I've been online way too long, and seen way too much shit. So, I then had to go into how I've seen first meetings cancelled for a myriad of reasons. Some could be true, some not, be it from fear, jerking around, whatever. *sigh* Let's just see what happens. He's sad. I'm sad that he's sad. In the back of my mind, I'm just thinking the worst, and this twit is going to hurt my baby. |

My Mood: SL Join Date: 2007 Client: Usually Catznip but I dabble a lot in others | Oh no! I was looking at my blog and it's showing something like three times the normal traffic it does on a good day. So I checked to see where the traffic was coming from, and it has four references from Plurk. I'm not on plurk. It's the crotch of hell where all evil is spawned. This can't be good. |

| I seem to be getting sucked in to the Every Day Carry movement, with my ceaseless efforts to better organize my life. I've been buying pocket organizers, Man Bags, and assorted organizers for the car and apartment. Hopefully I will stay away from the survivalist / zombie invasion / 2nd amendment activist fringe and be content with pens, keys, thumb drives, exercise gear and electronic gadgets. |

My Mood: | I'd be much more worried if he made good money. As I said, he doesn't make much. And, probably spends it just as fast. But, who knows, he could have something stashed. I mentioned sending $10/20 is one thing, but um.. sending rent & food is a big WTF. He agreed instantly, so I think I'm safe with that. Hell, if he has more than $50 saved, I'd be surprised. Though he is the type he would give 25 of it to a friend who needed it. So, that could be a scam on her side (depending on what he told her he makes lol), but she's S.O.L. I think I'm more concerned with some big bad emergency popping up just before she's due to arrive, and that forcing her to cancel. It's a story that I've heard in different forms so many times I can't count. Add to that, while he asks for advice, I then get yelled at for telling him stuff he already knows!!!! Or treating him like a child!!!! All because I think I've been doing this online stuff for so much longer and think I know everything!!!! But times have changed!!!!! Not so much kiddo! |

My Mood: SL Join Date: October 2004 Blog Entries: 1 | I ordered a new laptop. I was waiting for the MacBook refresh today to pull the trigger. I've been using a 2011 11" MacBook Air for the past year and while I've grown very attached to the form factor and size/weight, the underpowered GPU and RAM bottlenecks have become frustrating. So when rumours started flying about updated MacBook Pros with no optical drives and high-density displays I was hopeful that it would trickle down; at the same time I didn't think it was going to, so I've been looking about. Unsurprisingly, while Apple did bump the specs on the Airs, they're still stuck with the Intel GPUs; the cards are surprisingly capable coming from Intel, but it's still a bottleneck I don't want to deal with. I did want to stay at the sub-13" size, and while I was shocked at how cheap the new 15" MacBook Pro/Air ended up being (the high-end one is slightly more expensive than the price I paid for a fully-spec'd 15" MacBook Pro, $3100) I didn't want to get a laptop that size. So I decided to pick up this instead: Metabox W110ER overview - Ultra Portable, Regular Gaming and 3D Design Laptop It has all of the same specs as the new 15" MacBook Pro they introduced today (identical video card, with even 2 gigs of RAM on it as opposed to Apple's 1), and there's a retailer here in Australia that will build-to-order for only $1200. So I get the form factor I want (it's only slightly thicker and heavier than my 11" Air, though it's still lighter than the new 15" Pro) with the specs I want. I will have to give up OSX, which is sad as I've grown accustomed to it, but in the end I knew that OSX wasn't going to take advantage of the specs in the first place and I would have to put Windows on it if I really wanted to leverage the GPU. I just hope the screen doesn't have any dead pixels. |
