I think I need to clean up my Facebook friends list. Too many idiots who seem to think everything on Fox news is truth. I've had to refute at least 2 different idiotic posts in the last couple of days. It's amazing how many people don't seem to realize that search engines exist and you really CAN check the veracity of something before you post it. I've been making it my mission to enlighten them to the existence of truth, if you just look for it.

So the job recruiter called me today and is putting forth my resume for a temp position with a certain big name health care provider in California. If I were to actually get it (definitely an IF, it's only in the "here take a look at this gal" stages) it would mean leaving a permanent and stable job (that I happen to hate hate hate but pays the bills) for a job that will last anywhere from 4 months to 1 year to indefinitely. It's basically temp to possible perm depending on how the wind blows.

Pros
I get the hell out of the job from hell I'm currently stuck in
I get my foot in the door with a large, big brand name company
Its a lot more geared towards my degree than the job I currently have
It would be about a 40% pay raise

Cons
Its an hour and a half commute each way
Its not stable, I could find myself unemployed in four months
Did I mention the ridiculous commute?

And hell I don't even know why I'm obsessing on this anyway, its not even an issue unless they actually call me

Anyway, thanks for reading or not reading my rambling

\o/ Well, what I entered into the competition was an aggregated form of the first four "books" in the series which have been out on the Kindle and iBookstores for a while now. I had intended to package them up into one volume when I was done with the first four, and that happened to coincide with the start of the competition. Books 1 - 4 equal a regular-length novel, and it would be the first book in a trilogy at that size. There's twelve books in total, so essentially I broke a trilogy up into twelve smaller parts.

I have the first book available for free on my site, though it doesn't yet incorporate the changes I made to the beginning of the story when I entered the compiled volume into the competition.

So a friends old computer PSU died, and they needed to get the stuff off the HD. "no problem" says I, I'll just swap the drive into my computer and copy what you need over...

in the proccess I manage to jog loose one of my HD cables causing the Raid 1 mirror to to complain, no biggie I'll just reconnect it next power up... only to be greeted with Array Degraded on the drive. grumble. ok, Rebuild. Array Degraded on both drives... now one drive shows empty... grrrr. ok reformat the damn drive!

and that's where I'm at now... reformating a 500GB drive is sooooo painfully slow and the damn thing better reinstall right or Imma be pissed.

That's why I have a couple of ESata to SATA cables, an SATA-IDE adapter, and a HDD power supply that runs off a wall wart. I can hook up drives without yutzing with internals.

normally I wouldn't have even used this machine... but my skeleton machine is in need of new fans...

a long while later, after trying various things to get the drive recognized (including reinstalling the raid drivers, and the gui interface which I'd removed a long time ago) I was still having no luck, and so I randomly rebooted and enabled raid on all the sata channels.... and whaddya know suddenly it comes back to life....

Seems I forgot that the layout manual lied about which port was which and I had plugged the discoed drive back into the wrong one....

I do need to get one of those ide --> sata converters... would've been handy =/
