Today I have become an instant expert on mastodons. Did you know the word "mastodon" literally means "nipple teeth?" Well, now you do.

Thread Title of the Week
I'm somewhat perturbed by a few of the purchase orders we had go through the system today. Nipples and chainsaws?

Actually, speaking for mother elephants everywhere, that isn't too surprising.

I had my second test in corporate finance last night.
Bear in mind, this is a regular exam and not a final.

This exam covered 4 chapters (200 pages) + additional material he handed out that we covered over the course of 2 and a half weeks. 5 class periods.

The exam lasted 2 hours and 15 minutes.

I was reviewing over my answers and he called time.

There were only a few people that actually finished the exam in time.
I think I did pretty well. Some of the people that walked out of the room were crying.

That was the most difficult test I've ever taken and that includes some pretty heavy Math courses as an undergrad (Combinatoric Enumeration, Linear Algebra 2, etc...).

The test was 17 pages long all essay and problems.

I think it's safe to say, that this is the hardest course in the MBA program so far.

Cute overload!

But in the mastodons' case, the "nipple teeth" actually referred to protrusions on the molars that made the teeth well-suited for chewing leaves.

Also, mastodons and woolly mammoths weren't the same (I thought maybe they were). Mastodons ate fruit and leaves high up on plants, while mammoths grazed on the ground. And mammoths had the lumpy-topped heads while mastodons didn't.

The more you know. And knowing's half the battle!

Computer is fucked, took it to the shop. Most likely too expensive to repair for a long time. Have to wait a week for the quote but doesn't look good. Bleh.

I'm pretty sure we have those brands, I'll try them. I mainly want to find one that doesn't stink of coconuts because the smell makes me gag

For some strange reason, I'm not too keen on Vanilla, either: In cookies and cakes, sure, but on a human . Why I like Coconut then is .

Oh Mr Tolkien why did you have to populate your world with spiders and not just small ones either. As much as I love wondering through Angmar spiders are becoming annoying. Okthxbye

I can't wait to move,
this place is a zoo.
My very own home,
away from this crew.

I visit and call,
cheap flats they are few.
The nice ones are rare,
what's a girl to do?

I am bored tonight,
with nothing to do.
Just waiting for calls
that aren't coming through.

I came here for fun,
a drama or two,
but no ones around,
all's quiet at SLU.

This poem is crap,
please feel free to boo.
I'm on my fourth beer,
I'm drunker than you.

I started working out again yesterday. I'm down to two cigarettes a day. By Wednesday, I'll be riding again.

I feel really, really good.

I once had a roommate who had a kitten.

It weighed maybe four ounces. It was about six or eight weeks old.

It did 500 DOLLARS WORTH OF DAMAGE TO AN APARTMENT.

That's in 1995 dollars, folks.

Now if you met the same cat as an adult, he was the picture of mellow. Except once in a while... you would see a bit of the kitten.
He was a good pet and protective of us.

I just love that my President cares enough about me, as a citizen, to send a personal message. Yeah, this is a mass mailing, but it's a hell of a lot more than Bush ever did.

Quote:
Lyndsay --

This weekend, our family will join millions of others in celebrating America. We will enjoy the glow of fireworks, the taste of barbeque, and the company of good friends. As we all celebrate this weekend, let's also remember the remarkable story that led to this day.

Two hundred and thirty-three years ago, our nation was born when a courageous group of patriots pledged their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor to the proposition that all of us were created equal.

Our country began as a unique experiment in liberty -- a bold, evolving quest to achieve a more perfect union. And in every generation, another courageous group of patriots has taken us one step closer to fully realizing the dream our founders enshrined on that great day.

Today, all Americans have a hard-fought birthright to a freedom which enables each of us, no matter our views or background, to help set our nation's course. America's greatness has always depended on her citizens embracing that freedom -- and fulfilling the duty that comes with it.

As free people, we must each take the challenges and opportunities that face this nation as our own. As long as some Americans still must struggle, none of us can be fully content. And as America comes ever closer to achieving the perfect Union our founders dreamed, that triumph -- that pride -- belongs to all of us.

So today is a day to reflect on our independence, and the sacrifice of our troops standing in harm's way to preserve and protect it. It is a day to celebrate all that America is. And today is a time to aspire toward all we can still become.

With very best wishes,

President Barack Obama

July 4th, 2009

P.S. -- Our nation's birthday is also an ideal time to consider serving in your local community. You can find many great ideas for service opportunities near you at Welcome to Serve.gov.
