Lily - dealing with bureaucracy is a nightmare for anything. But especially for money.

My father's really sick. He's going to a clinic now, though he should really be going to a hospital. I'm very worried about him.

Hopefully he'll be in good hands, and they might refer him to a hospital if they need to. I hope he'll be alright, and I hope you'll be okay too

My father's back from the clinic, but still may have to go to the hospital. And now I find out that he has other health problems I didn't know about. My stepmother thinks he'll get through whatever he's got now, but is really worried about those other problems.

Thank you to everyone who's commented, though.

What if, hypothetically, you went for a job interview, got offered the job straight away and given the contract to look over with the view of starting said job next week, only for circumstances in your current job to change, meaning you wouldn't have the time to do both.
So you decide you can't take on this new job, even though the interviewer drove a long way to specifically interview you and was really enthuastic about you joining the company

Is an email a shitty way of declining a job? Or is it best to wait until Monday and give them a call?

ETA: Bleurgh, this didn't make much sense, but you catch my drift.

If they're really interested in having you why not, instead of turning them down, contact them saying exactly that? That things with your current job changed and now you have issues taking on the new one, but you'd really like things to work out, is there anything that can be done etc etc.

No reason to just turn them down, unless you don't want to do the second job. If they really want you they might be able to juggle around your schedule.

Yeah I think I'll do that. I already have two jobs along with uni and, well, a life, so I don't see how I can fit it all in. I did initially explain to them that I couldn't drop my main job and I'd only be able to work on a part time basis so hopefully they can be a bit flexible, I'll see what they say.

Ta!

I'm liking this tea house Gmail theme more than I probably should. It's so neat to check in at various times of the day and see what the little fox is doing! (He's picking flowers right now.)

I've been to sketches from the "Horrible History" show, the amusing and irreverent take on history based on the series of books by Terry Deary that have been around for years now, "The Awesome Egyptians", "Rotten Romans", "Terrible Tudors", "Slimey Stuarts" etc.
It's aimed at kids, but the writing is pretty funny and I thought I'd share.

The Awful Egyptians take on Barry Scott & Infomercials:

The Groovy Greeks: Alexander reconsiders his city naming policy:

The Rotten Romans: A News report on the growth of Rome (spoofing the BBC's political reporting style):

The Terrible Tudors sing about the fortunes of their dynasty:

Witchcraft is tackled by Witchfinders Direct:

Whilst the Gorgeous Georgians take on boy bands with The 4 Georges delivering their hit single "Born 2 Rule":
