My grandfather died on the 2nd of october.
It cost me more than I earned last month to buy a suit to be a pall bearer at his funeral, which is tomorrow.

Yeah, this may be considered by some to be political - but you know what? Screw them. I CARE.

Quote:
All across America, something is stirring.
What the nay-sayers don't understand is that this election has never been about me - it's about you.

It's about you.

For eighteen long months you have stood up, one by one, and said enough to the politics of the past.
YOU understand that in this election the greatest risk we can take is to try the same old politics, with the same old players and expect a different result. YOU have shown what history teaches us, that in defining moments like this one the change we need doesn't come FROM Washington, the change comes TO Washington.

Change happens because the American People demand it! Because they rise up and insist on new ideas, and new leadership, a new politics for a new time. America, we can not turn back - not with so much work to be done - not with so many children to educate and so many veterans to care for - not with an economy to fix and cities to rebuild and farms to save, not with so many families to protect and so many lives to mend.

America, we can not turn back, we can not walk alone, at this moment, in this election, we must pledge once more to march into the future.

Let us keep that promise - that American promise - and in the words of scripture hold firmly, without wavering, to the hope that we confess.

Thank you, God bless you, and God bless the United States of America!
Fucking tell me that that doesn't inspire you. I dare you.

The Swans
by Paula Nancy Millstone Jennings

The dead swans lay in the stagnant pool.
They lay, they rotted, they turned
around occasionally.
Bits of flesh dropped off from them
time to time.
And sank into the pool's mire.
They also smelt a great deal.

I always thought the "Nobody Cares" title was kind of ironic.

Sometimes you just want to get things off your chest, but don't want to draw too much attention to them. I see it as a confession of sorts. It doesn't matter if the person on the other side of the screen doesn't respond. It just helps to know they are listening.

I just got an e-mail from the person most concerned with seeing my role continues and he tells me that they are planning to keep me through the end of January, at least on contract.

I'm not going to take that as gospel, because I know how corporate politics could take the decision out of his hands, but it made me feel a lot better - both that I won't probably get dumped at the worst time of the year, and that someone was going to bat for me.

It's great that someone is giving you that feedback.

I can't imagine what it must be like to live with a cerebral aneurysm your entire life. My partner's brother has one, and although he's 45, he's never had a scare apart from the time he had to have risky surgery to reduce the risk of a bleed. (I didn't know him then... in fact I hardly know him now.)

He had a fit while out overnight Thursday (he hasn't had a fit for over ten years) and was rushed to the hospital unconscious.... but it seems he got concussion from a hard fall onto the kerb... and fears his aneurysm had ruptured were unfounded. The whole family rushed to his bedside expecting the worst... but he's gonna be OK. Phew.

What a relief that he'll be okay. I can't imagine what it must be like to live with that condition either. Those things can go so suddenly.

Hugz for you and your beloved Walker and another for his bro. They are nasty things and I can understand why everyone was so worried. Great to know that it was not as bad as it could have been. xxx

I'm sorry, Kristian. We have very different situations, but I understand feeling lonely. I hope when the worse comes it is brief and lets you move on to something better.

Me and my chicklette (4) are moving this coming weekend, I'm packing this week and tidying up paperwork etc ... I am the boomerang child and am descending on my poor parents for the interim between breaking up with hubby and finding a little place for me and the chick. (She asked me if we could move into a Tree House )

I am excited and scared and happy and relieved and stressed to the max.

And I'd like to thank everyone who has been so sweet and supportive.

Hi everyone! Killian's sister and her partner are about to become parents - looks like it'll be tonight or tomorrow  It sounds like all is going well so far, but you know how it is - all the good thoughts, well wishes and even prayers are welcome! Fingers crossed for the big event!
