My Mood: | I saw this story and wondered what the extent of his personal things were. I'd like to find his wallet. I bet the guy carried a nice wad of cash around. It's my understanding that they haven't found any wreckage yet. The Sierras are about as rugged as any mountain range anywhere, so who knows what is hidden in there. I'd like to see them find something conclusive enough to give his family some closure. I'm sure everyone accepts that he is dead, but it's nice to get that final info about what happened and where. |

The guy who found the clothes and ID cards did find a considerable amount of money apparently.

I'm not sure how I would explain the sudden infusion of cash in my bank account to the IRS, but for damned sure, I didn't find it in Steve Fossett's wallet! Nope.

My Mood: | From the description of the impact, his body could have been thrown anywhere within a quarter mile from the wreckage. Given the rough terrain, it will be difficult to find remains a year later. |

My Mood: | Steve Fossett was one of those billionaire playboy adventurers like...dang, can't remember his name...the guy who owns the Virgin labels. He was always trying to break records like flying a helium balloon around the world and things like that - always pushing the envelope with balloons, gliders, sailboats, etc. He was sort of an inspiration to a lot of people to reach for their dreams. He disappeared a while ago while flying a small plane. He's been missing since, and even though it was pretty clear that he had crashed, there were all sorts of conspiracy theories about him faking his death. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Fossett |
