My Mood:

I have a facebook page, and it's entirely for keeping up old school friends and some relations I have across the globe.

I don't bother with all the apps, updating stuff etc etc, I look at it only when my email tells me someone has sent me a message. But I am now in touch with pretty much anyone I cared about during my teen years, and for that I'm really grateful.

I do have a "person from the past" that is still trying to get in touch with me or my family members, and for that reason I use my married name on facebook. He found my sister on there, but she ignored him and he went away

Re: Twitter drama, it sucks.

... but I'm too attached to my name... and don't really see the point of that tradition from a gay POV.

The law is a bit twisted in this regard you know?

If a woman wants to take her new husband's name in the UK, her marriage certificate is proof enough that she changed her name.

Her husband has to contact Deed Poll if he wants to take her name though.

Civil Partnerships being unequal to marriage, it stands to reason that gay men and lesbians have to go through Deed Poll too.

Woah, complicated. Actually, I really miss my maiden name, and kind of regret not hanging on to it, but to start using it now would be like a statement that I don't really want to make.

Ok, you gay people keep your names then. I was actually asking my sister the other day if she and her girlfriend tied the knot whose name would they use, but she laughed so hard at the tying the knot bit she never answered the question

LOL. I don't have a problem with people changing names when getting married btw. It just seems like a very heterosexual tradition and I don't really see its value in gay/lesbian partnerships.

Oops. We totally derailed Siobhan's thread didn't we?

Twitter is like a live journal, except you get 140 characters to make an entry. You see the details of everyone's dull, meaningless lives on a single feed, and you can respond to commiserate or to raise yourself above the common hoi polloi by making fun of them. It's awesome!!!

well, as long as I'm raising myself above the common hoi polloi, it can't be all bad.

So, basically, it's sort of a feed where you put in short messages that others can see, and you can track the ones that they put in. Right?

What sorts of messages? Maybe my life is dreadfully boring. What can I say that's remotely interesting in 140 characters or less? Rode my bike to work in the rain this morning? Drank 6 cups of coffee already? Gotta pee, brb.

Yes, Trout. I have learned some pretty interesting things the people I follow do.

Based on these pictures, I am giving you an 8.4 on the official Trout Recreant Scale of Slutiness. You are a slut, but only in the best possible way, and any man lucky enough to see that side of you should count his blessings.

Anything.. once you get a bunch of people following you, it's like a conversation, really.
