I find the best sci-fi movies are trashed by critics because it takes more than two brain cells to understand it and there aren't a million explosions or something.

Has nothing to do with your opinion of the film. Thanks for overreacting as per usual. Go on defending then spanky!

| OH! I forgot to tell you I saw Dark Knight, Luc, it rocked. I mean I think people were hyperventilating a bit over it but Heath walked away with the movie. If you are going to go young, that is the way to do it. Two thumbs up! |

I am THAT crazy
| I find it ironic, people who play Second Life arguing about Suspension of Disbelief. Unless it's being presented as a documantary or claiming to be historically accurate, I have no trouble with it. Especially with a Summertime action flick. It's entertainment, that's all. I try not to take it, or myself, too seriously. My brother the cop on the other hand is the exact opposite. He can't watch any type of police or detective show without picking apart every little scene. I'm surprised his wife hasn't murdered him in his sleep.

One of my degrees is in history, and if we see a movie that purports to be based on history, they'd better fucking get the details right or I'M POINTING IT OUT TO EVERYBODY!! ![]() It's a bad habit, I know. And I realize that war movies can't always afford to use accurate mockups of authentic equipment, but forgodsakes don't try to pass off a 60s-era M60 tank as a fucking WW2 Panzer. Don't try to convince me that Custer was the last soldier heroically standing on the hill at the end of that battle! You'll only piss me off! ![]() Then my husband quietly points out that "honey, nobody gives a fuck, hush up".

I try to take into account the era the film was made, and the intent, and if I am entertained by it, that's all that matters.. Hell ,I even enjoy Oliver Stone's paranoid ramblings. As to the subjectiveness of art, which I do agree with...If "Piss Christ" and some of the other garbage that is out there, and sometimes subsidized by our tax dollars through the NEA can be considered Art, so can "Independance Day". My Mood: SL Join Date: January 27, 2007 | I know what you mean..I minored in history as an undergrad and have accuracy pet peeves. One is the use of 1876 model Colt revolvers WITH cartridges in movies that are supposed to take place during or shortly after the Civil War. Also, I simply...can...not...sit...through a tv show or movie about lawyers. The numerous innaccuracies, especially in court room scenes, have me literally climbing the walls. Sooz
