Hmph.

Ours is up to 36C later this week, which is ridiculous for June.

OK, we get from 35-40 in July-August but this? Is too hot. No rain in sight. None.

Fortunately, it is going down to 28-29 after that, which is going to be better as we have some (lovely, SLU) Brits over and I remember saying "June is fine and not too hot".

Except this year, it's been so damned hot. And the weird thing is that on 1 May, we were still having frost.

Please keep the bad weather there, thanks. We've had some very pleasant winter sun recently.

The average number of tropical days (30C+) in a year here in the Maastricht area is 7.
By the end of the week we have reached those 7 already and the summer barely started.

I'm really 'looking forward' to Thursday: 34C and rain showers.

Well, it only got up to 106 today. It's currently (8pm) 101 out, with 37% humidity. This morning, at 5am when I went off to work, it was 76 out, with 79% humidity.

Fuck that shit!

Today was 37C (98.6 F) in the shade. Tomorrow is supposedly hotter. Nights are sticky. In the sun, it was well up in the 40s.

I had a chat to a very sensible (normally) UK friend who lives here today and she was all "you think THEY are doing stuff to weather patterns?"

I said no, I didn't and made no comment about the "they".. Then I looked over at the hill opposite us where there is a combine harvester at work (still is).

In June. Harvesting.

Our veggies are struggling. When it gets really hot, they just stop growing. Usually in late July or August. I am not too optimistic about getting a decent crop of veggies considering they were planted late because of frost early in May.

And now this.

I am not a fan of conspiracy theories, so I'm still not biting but I'm sure as hell glad I don't live in Phoenix, AZ - and hugs to those who do.

Apparently we are going to get "cool" temperatures of around 25-28C next week. I hope so. Some rain would be quite nice.

On a side note, a huge tree branch fell off on a square in town last weekend and crushed two young children. Apparently the trees were already diseased but our big ash trees are shedding leaves and small branches like never before. Because it is HOT. But yeah, makes you wonder.

Still not buying into the whole "they" are messing with "climate patterns" however. To my mind it's just That Thing Called Climate Change.
