Bah! I went on a two-hour hike this morning - with six other brave souls. Well, drenched souls, by the end of it. Was fun though.

I don't mind the rain when you're prepped for it. Just bloody annoying :-/

Being British means its your duty to complain about the weather, no matter what it currently is.

I did have a nice walk down to the local river that was interrupted by all the rain in the world, was nice watching the wind and rain on the river while sheltering under the trees.

I am mostly Irish though so no complaining from me... well unless it gets too sunny.

I never did, if something was wrong all we did was make copious cups of tea, cured everything.

Haven't been back for 10 or so years though, maybe I'm rusty?

See that's the good stuff right there.

If all goes to plan should be heading over for in July for a family wedding, I can check to see how much complaining is going on then

Well, I wasn't exactly complaining about misty mornings, or romantic water droplets running down window panes, or thunderstorms (which I love more than anything) - me too I love all those things. But it's been a record downfall here, with more rain over the last 4 months than the same period in over 150 years. Along with failed crops and dead gardens, there is also all the flooding and destruction of homes, etc.

And it's COLD FFS, as OrinB said, and we know cold here. I love snow and winter, and yes rain too, but the deal is, we get 3-4 months of HOT sun in exchange damn it. I want my flip-flops, drinks on a terrace, and sun-burned nose weather, please.

That weather finally arrived here in the PNW.

The neighbors and I were just bitching about how hot it is.

(The good news -- this sunny spell should be drifting in your direction.)

We should have 2 days of sun and humidity index++ heat (then back to rain ) and I'm expecting everyone to complain about how hot it is, because, well, that is who we are.

It's too cold in the winter (Siberia!), too wet in spring, and too hot and sticky in summer (I swear, it's like a Colombian jungle...) I like Autumn, though. Autumn's perfect.

Anyhoo....

I'm comlaining that you think we complain about everything, when we don't! We just complain about some things, pretty sure last week I didn't complain about anything at all for almost 30 minutes!!

I just went up to Switzerland for just over 24 hours hours (it's about 4 and a half hours).

Mr RL said that the weather showed "a bit of a drizzle" and it would be about 20°C.

We drove through torrential rain most of the way north. Freezing cold, too.

We took rain jackets but on stopping to grab something to eat at lunchtime (and a respite from the downpour and gusty winds, and thus crawling traffic), I got my shoes soaked just walking from the car to the café area.

Did I take spare shoes? No.

Did I take a sweater? Nope. Just a light wrap. 20°?

It was TWELVE effing degrees. With strong winds.

In the evening, we went out to eat beside the lake. Terrace, as is normal in June? Forget it. The shipping warning lights were on all around. The wind was crazy.

And it hailed. Twice. Quite apocalyptic seeing whitecaps on the lake, the massive thunderclouds. At least the hailstorms weren't big enough to damage the bodywork.

Got my feet soaked all over again walking back to the car.

It was a bit better on the way back this morning, and down here it's sunny and dry but very cool for the season. And we're still suffering from the freak frosts at the beginning of May that devastated the vineyards and fruit crops.

Next week, however, it's apparently going back to a seasonal 30° and sunny. Would be rather nice.

*Glares at the weather*.

LOL - reminds me of my trip to Cleveland a couple months ago. Forecast for the week? 50's and low 60's (round about 15 C). I took a vest to ward off the chill. Reality? Upper 30's and mostly low to mid 40's ( 2 - 8 C), with a couple of days of snow thrown in.
