A monopoly is a horrible thing, as far as freedom is concerned. Thankfully, we as consumers can work to prevent that.

I'm particularly upset at recent actions of Amazon and Ebay, overtly supporting scientology. I'm not planning to use either of their services anytime soon now, if ever.

Also noteworthy is Creative, makers of well known sound hardware. Who recently sent a cease and desist letter to a small independent coder who was fixing their shoddy broken products under windows vista, for free.

I've created this thread for two purposes.

1. To share stories of unethical corporations that have lost your custom, so others here can be more informed, and choose not to support their activities

2. To share information about alternatives. In the above cases, alternative auction sites, general retailers, sound manufacturers, etc.


The most common things I buy online are games, and hardware, generally. Amazon is know for selling both of these, of course. But thankfully there are no shortage of alternatives. My most preferred:

UK only sadly, but very good all round. Cheap, fast delivery.
