Great news, Brenda! Hoping you get settled in nicely and then have the time and energy to spend exploring Portland and environs. The times I've been there have been really nice, and my friends who live there enjoy the city and community a lot. Keep us posted, and best of luck with the new job, too.

Though do be prepared, it does rain in Oregon about 8 months out of the year. It's not all cold rain, and it's often just a day of wet, and then intermittent sprinkles or whatnot.., but it can be a pretty grey place. People with Seasonal Affective disorder have real issues up here. Spring comes very late in the year.. and it almost always has started raining by Halloween.

Many thanks everyone

I don't have SAD, but I wish I wasn't so sick from the strain of the move and the long drive, lol. I think the next time I try going by highway over the whole country I will get somebody else to drive lol. The trip was good but I would have enjoyed it more if I didn't have so much creeping fatigue. Fortunately I could sleep in hotels most nights. I've been working three weeks now and I thought the fatigue would be over by now but no, lol. The job is turning out to be pretty demanding as we're short staffed so the phone never stops, but I'm still very glad I did it. I'm planning to get my tail into the doctor office as soon as I can manage it now that I've got insurance, yay.

I'm posting from Kinko's since I had to get online to take care of some business. I'll finally get paid about a week from now, and I'm hoping I can get back online in a week or two after that.

I miss you all.

Hi, quick update. I'm sorry I've been out of touch. I'm still offline at home - Comcast is the only provider where I live and won't be doing the install until the 20th since they messed up and didn't show up on the last appointment *grr*

I'm doing well, mostly it's work and sleep and try to get situated. I've been doing a lot of overtime which is good on one level but means I haven't really done much else, lol.

I'd love a chance to meet any Portland area folks who might like to meet. If anyone can suggest a good place to eat we could meet for dinner on a Saturday or late on Sunday.

I hope all of you are doing well and if you're in Texas PLEASE evacuate if you should.

Verizon doesn't have FIOS in your area? It's way better (and cheaper) than Comcast (or was when we upgraded from DSL a couple years ago). What side of the Willamette are you on?

I'm on the Portland side, but for some reason some apartments here have access to Verizon and some don't
it's definitely something I'll look into once this lease is up.

Well, tonight I spent an hour on the phone with Comcast support - and now I'm online at home again! I missed you guys!!!!!!

I've got to crash pretty soon - I have to get up at 3:30 a.m. for work - but I'll be trying to catch up on SLU over the next few days.

My heart goes out to anyone who is still back in Texas and Louisiana and affected by this awful storm. I feel a little guilty for being becalmed up here while it all went down for my friends back in Houston.
