Hi I'm Yue! I just joined Second Life yesterday and I think I have most of the basics of the game down.

I have a few questions...

- Some random rich guy invited me into his apartment and he wanted to fool around, if you know what I mean. So I decided to go along and play around a bit just to see what happens, but definitely not go all the way, 'cuz I draw the line at a certain point when it comes to ppl I don't know, haha! So we're cuddling on the carpet when all of a sudden I see a little floating ball looking at us. I inspect it and it's called an "Eyeprobe" or something like that. Instantly realizing how creepy this situation suddenly became, I stood up and asked the guy what it was. He denied knowing anything about it, and just as quickly, it vanished without a trace. I instantly teleported and muted him. What WAS IT? Was it recording me for a potential candid adult movie or something o__o;;

- What are some good ways to make $L, as I have no way of paying with real money? And where are the best camping spots? Those are probably the most overasked newbie questions EVER, but I really would like to know ^^

I was just kidding around. I don't know what the Eyeprobe thing is, but it probably doesn't do anything you should be worried about. It might be a toy that follows avatars around, or something like that.

If you are concerned about being featured in an adult movie, you should know that video can be taken directly from the Second Life client without using any sort of camera or "eyeprobe" or anything else. It's right in your menu system or you can use an external program to capture video. If this guy can see it on his screen, he can make a video of it.

I'd be more concerned about "other" probes.

Reality time: There is no privacy in Second Life unless you are on a access controlled private island that has no adjoining islands. So the "eye probes" you need to worry about would be people "perv camming". You can't see them looking unless you show look at. You need to learn how to show "look at" if concerned. If you want to know who is looking then use the emerald client. I go into a club and usually see a swarm of crosshairs lock onto me. That's what dressing up nice is for.

Better yet get over it and know someone can be watching you anytime. And LL can read your instant messages unless you use emerald and use OTR with a decent key. And someone can have key loggers on your computer anyway. And if cyber sexing or whatever with someone they might be logging it. I have everything logged back to march 2007.
