My Mood: | Many of my close friends know all my alts. Well most all my alts As a rule though I drop people from my alts friends list pretty quickly, especially my female alts, and I do get uncomfortable when I think one is being met with some level of affection. In those situations I make up some RL reason to excuse myself and split. I know some women who get their jollies cybering other unsuspecting women with their male alt. Actually…I think that’s kinda hawt! ![]()

| I know it's unrealistic. Maybe that's why I don't go cozying up. DaQ said he knows women who do it for jollies. I honestly don't care if you are a guy and want a female av, or vice versa. I think it's just wrong to be decietful about it. I guess that's just my opinion. But some people take the whole RP as a diff sex way too far. I got slapped in the face with it when I first started SL. Great guy, amusing, intelligent, we built together, hung out together nearly constantly. Months and months go by before he "comes clean" and says he's really a girl. Sad part. I wouldn't have cared if I knew in the beginning. Wouldn't have changed a thing. It was the lie that was hurtful. |

I created an alt about a week after I joined....the reason being that I had this group tag over my head that I'd no idea how to get rid of, so I thought the best way would be to start all over again... And a quick question that I haven't been able to get a clear answer for as of yet.... Just exactly how many alts can one have before being charged for them? I use my current alt to make shapes and try out new stuff regarding building and scripting etc....

So basically... no idea. But they arent currently charging. As for how many, not a clue. I would imagine it's not a good idea to go hog wild and create your own basketball team worth of alts

I ran into a guy on the beta grid that’s been with SL since it was in beta. He said at one time he had so many alts that LL bought them back from him. 56 is the number I seem to remember him saying he had.

| I have one alt (created a few days ago), but he looks just like my main av, and my closer SL friends already know about him. I made him mainly for backup, testing, and group creation, and the occasional going incognito. As for having me and an alt online at the same time, I've never done that in SL, since the viewer tells me I can't open it more than once at a time. (I've done it in There, though, since you can run multiple instances of the There client on one computer. My alt and I even played in a "Double Trouble" spades tournament once, in which players partnered themselves using an alt.)

For PC: Find a shortcut of Second Life. You may already have one on your desktop. If you need to find the executable (SecondLife.exe) so you can make a shortcut, Second Life is usually located in this directory: C:\Program Files\SecondLife Right-click the shortcut and choose Properties. Click the Shortcut tab. In the Target field, next to the path to the directory containing Second Life, insert a space and "-multiple". Like this: "C:\Program Files\SecondLife" -multiple For mac: 1. Open Script Editor 1. Open the Applications folder 2. Open the AppleScript folder 3. Double-click the Script Editor icon 2. Paste the following bit of code into the editor: tell application "Terminal" do script "nohup \"/Applications/Second Life.app/Contents/MacOS/Second Life\" -multiple &" delay 1 quit end tell 3. Save as "Second Life - Multiple", choose your Applications folder. The File Format should be "application" and for the Options, you should have "Run Only" checked and not the others. 4. A Second Life - Multiple icon will now be available within your Applications folder. Run it as many times as you like for a new instance of Second Life.

My Mood: | Having created a new alt within the last few days, I can confirm that there is no longer any way in which to pay for this account even if you wanted to. The option is not presented during the sign up process. |

| I'm not afraid to have what ever groups I'm involved with on my main account, nor do what I want to do. I do have an alt, but that is more a doll that I dress up and have follow me around. With the way SL is.. the shame people might feel about getting found out about their activities is much less.. as opposed to people they know locally in RL finding out about their avatar.

My Mood: | Creating my new alt (third account) was fun this time around because I knew exactly where to go and what to do to get her outfitted for practically nothing. * Run through orientation and grab all freebies * Head for orientation sandbox and sort through freebies for any hair, clothes or items of decent quality, delete the rest * Immediately teleport to TaP and get free quality skins * Teleport to my own store to pick up a free walk anim * Teleport to Shiny Things and get free canvas painter's shoes to go with the free faded jeans (see above) * Teleport to Mystical Cookie and spend L$1 on MystiTool Lite Voila! One avatar of respectable appearance and basic functional competence. |

My Mood: | I had an alt the end of my second week on SL, and the two have different personalities. The older Av is more serious about things but role plays. The younger av is the one that tends to be practical, but has a child AV that is six and acts like it. The only people on both friends lists know they are both mine, and comment that are different, its not just my imagination. I have had them both on together, the older one is Auntie for the six year old, and they go to balls with the male version of the other av, so the social circles don't cross all that much. The worst part is trying to keep the inventories straight since I have to remember which one has this no trans item I need.
