I like pretty much anything. Hip hop, jazz, funk, reggae, house, drum'n'bass, techno, dubstep, rock, grime, new wave/no wave, punk, soul, r&B, really abstract and experimental stuff... all kinds of stuff.

I guess at the centre I'm a punk electronic b-boy soul-boy though.

At the very top of the list is hip hop, and that's pretty much the lens through which my musical tastes have been filtered.

I very much enjoy soul, funk, r&b, reggae of all sorts, jazz, old school house, freestyle, broken beat/deep house/whatever it's called, dance music in general, and some indie/alternative rock. Post rock makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside as well.

It might be easier to list what I don't like ;-) but in rough historical order here are some of the things I do like:

-Early music (motets,madrigals, - sackbutts, racketts,cornamuse)
-Baroque fugues
-Chopin, Shubert (lieder) Debussy, Schoenberg
-Early Jazz ( Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton etc)
-WW1 era recordings
-Old Timey country music
-Kansas City blues/swing (Moten & early Basie)
-Chicago Stride
-Big Bands - Lunceford, early and late Ellington, Herman's Herds
-Noel Coward, Edith Piaf, Dietrich, Flanders and Swann
-some classic Rock & Roll (Everly Brothers, Fats Domino, Buddy Holly)
-classic country (Hank Williams, Patsy Cline)
-some Sinatra, Peggy Lee, Mel Torme,
-Miles Davis, pretty Coltrane, Charles Mingus
-British Invasion
-Girl groups
-Garage band Rock (Nuggets album)
-Byrds (folkrock and jangle rock)
-British blues (Mayal, Julie Driscoll )
-Psychodelic
-San Fransisco Sound
-Soft Machine,Van Der Graff Generator, Gentle Giant
-Leonard Cohen is his own genre
-was into 70's prog rock and jazz fusion but got sick of it ;-)
-Proto Punk ( Velvet Underground)
-70's / 80's Punk and New Wave ( P Smith, Television, The Shirts, Elvis Costello, Johnathan Richmond) )
-80's Alternative ( Cranberries, Sinaed O'Conner , 10000 Maniacs)
-REM and some "grunge"

I'm really too old to pay a lot of attention to contemporary music. I hear things I like but I tend to forget it. MGMT? Toxic Waste? some European electronic stuff

other stuff: Carter/Madhu World Music, Cajun, old gospel, Parody - Ruttles, Folksmen, Spinal Tap

I think my taste is perfectly normal ;-)

Everything apart from modern minimal techno (which isn't even music), country & western and cheesy pop-by-numbers. Darkstep and other hard electronic music is where I'm at right now. I've also been in the mood for old skool hip hop again lately... and Alice In Chains.

Just about anything except country and gangster rap. And, Johnny Cash doesn't count as country. He's in a genre all his own. (^_^)

I have my Winamp on shuffle at work with at least 60 hours of music... It can go from blues to J-pop to death metal to The Ventures at any time. (^_^)

That said... It's on [The Tubes - White Punks On Dope] right now. (^_^)y

I like most everything depending on my mood, except for stuff I wouldn't consider music - but I'll refrain from listing what that is to avoid any wars

I'm listening to Another Animal right now and my recent songs from my ipod show
Meat Loaf
Frank Sinatra
Anouk
Billy Talent
Sarah Vaughn
A Fine Frenzy
Black Stone Cherry
Jag Star
Holly Cole
Metric
k.d. lang
Elvis
Within Temptation
Oscar Peterson
Louis Armstrong

which is typical for me.

My taste for music changes all the time.. currently, I like listening to sad malongas. It's what some people know as the tango. I prefer more of the rip your own heart out and crush it with your stilhetto heel and continue dancing with it as it's stuck there (emotionally speaking) ..style.
