I haven't updated yet, but I assumed there is a little hud? Like for face animations?

The anims for the hands are on the last page of the new HUD for the 4.0 version.

I have the new bento hands on my Maitreya now.

It comes as no great surprise that the rings I regularly wore on my fingers remained in a fixed position as the bento fingers did their thing.

Is there a way of adding items, such as rings, to a finger or hand so they move with the bento fingers? .. or will ring wearers need to purchase new made-for-bento rings?

Hopefully, a small bento-hand HUD is made available soon, as opposed to having to open up the enormous Maitreya main HUD each time to change hand poses.

The rings will have to be re-rigged, or buy new rings.

The new bento hands are nice, but Slink still wins when it comes to efficiency... hands down.

Here's a stat comparison.

Maitreya has more than double the vertices and triangles.

On the plus side, the passive Maitreya AO doesn't bend the wrists every 10 seconds like the Slink one does, I'll probably gut those animations. A seperate hand pose HUD would have also been a nice addition instead of the massive all in one Maitreya HUD.

There is a bento ring finger attachment point for each hand, so you can attach a non-rigged ring to that ringer and it will work fine. The rest will have to be rigged though.

But you dont have that animations HUD that came with Slink? I have only unpacked one set of hands with an avatar who didnt have more than one set of hands. The information I got, was that I can buy "idle" animation at Slink, so the fingers move slowly all the time.
But it is more fun to replace some of my stands in the AO with Bento stands. New stands where the fingers are animated too.
I find that I do not have to change every stand. Some creators have very moving fingers and crazy stands. They really want to show off those Bento hand animations.

Where do you find good Bento stand and other animations? I went looking at the usual places for Bento AOs after I got the Slink hand update, but there wasn't much oout yet.

If the rings are unrigged, attach them to the new ring attachment point, sadly just one per hand.

The new Maitreya HUD includes a number of Bento poses now - static poses you can choose from. And / or you can buy AOs which animate your hands too. Slink has an AO for "idle hand animations" - you attach it, and your fingers subtly move (or not so subtly, I still have to get used to it, it makes me a little nervous ). That HUD you can use for Maitreya, too. I think it 's included when you have the Slink Hand Fatpack.

Just watched Strawberry's update video about the Bento hands from Maitreya. She's linked to an AO that has Bento hand poses. Thanks, everyone!

Oh no, Strawberry Singh say: The only animations that don’t work with these hands are the ones that come with the SLink hands. I was told that the reason they don’t work with the SLink HUD is because the slink animations have bone position translation in them which is a setting in blender that can be turned on. If that setting is turned on, then it can make the animations a lot less compatible with other bento items. Therefore the SLink HUD will not work on the Maitreya or Vista bento hands, it breaks them (which I showed in the video).

I used Marketplace with Bento as search word in animations - animation override. Then teleported around. I found one that I liked in Body Language Sweet Lovely Cute (what a long name, as long as asian cosmetics!) They have several AOs and it was waiting time there, in Voir, in Oracul and in Tutys.

So is it just me or does the HUD not collapse when you click the logo like it used to?

It collapses for me. Works just as the old one did.

HUD used to collapse by clicking the same logo that opened it, or use the underscore. Now you can only use the little underscore. Plus anything I don't know about, if any.

This.

I could only collapse it with the Underscore on the 4.0 HUD.

It still works like it did before, for me. No idea why.

Well, that explains it. I only used the underscore before = I don't register any difference because I still use only the underscore.
I learnt a new english word today. I had to google "underscore".

Both these points have been addressed in 4.1.
  • HUD collapses the same ways as before.
  • Mini HUD for hand poses.

Also the main hud now has a switch to automatically cycle resting animations, meaning you don't need a bento AO to keep your hands looking lively.

It looks like that button is on both the Hand Pose HUD and the main HUD.
