Hiya, again...

So with the help of a few friends, I just might be able to pull off my very own restaurant! We've found a nice build, a fantastic food serving system, some land for the most part, and we will be having custom furniture made to match our decor.

By the way... People actually *do* go to restaurants in SL, I have worked at three. So no calling me crazy!

Seeing as we don't have enough money for *everything* yet, I am wondering if anyone out there would like to invest in the Chocolate Mint Restaurant (or simply just make a donation because you're nice!). Currently, we need the following:

Our build costs L$1999. I'm pretty sure I can afford this after a while.
Our (possible) land tier is L$1895 and it is 4096 sq. m. (to account for the build and the prims we will need).
Our custom built furniture will probably cost around L$3000.
Dining animations (that are a definite NEED) cost a total of L$6000.
Our food system costs L$3995.
Estimated total - L$16889 (oh wow...)

So what can I offer you in return of investing or donating? That's actually a really good question. Um... Well our upper level can be used as a place to hold events or nice luncheons or whatever... Right now I have someone who will use it for events usually. Errr, you can has free meals? I really don't know, sorry, but shoot me ideas.

I would just really appreciate some help, because this is actually like a dream to me and I really don't want to see it end badly... So yeah, if you can help out, I will be eternally grateful!

I agree with Luc. It sounds like you have a lovely idea. Considering all of the time and effort you are going to put into it, a $65 dollar investment seems pretty trivial. And besides, why yoke yourself to somebody else that doesn't share your dream? I would spend the few dollars and realize your restaurant exactly they way you envision. Do some networking and make contacts in the live music scene. I think a restaurant would be a great venue for live music, especially Jazz and cabaret or Classical music. Include a stage in the build, and if you can get artists performing there on a regular basis, you have your income.

But I agree with Perse and Luc. $65 isn't much, in real terms. Earn some money in RL and buy the L$.

Well... I probably should have said this. Things are far too tight for me and my husband for me to buy my L$ (or else I would have, belieeeeve me!). We live paycheck to paycheck.

Also, I didn't say that I wanted an investor to pay $65. All I mean is I'll accept financial help. Lol give me L$1 and I'll be happy

I believe you, I have gone to dinners in sl and it was lots of fun. Good luck and I hope it works out for you. Just remember, things are tight for almost everyone these days. I would suggest getting an SL job as a hostess or something to earn the start up money you need. I have lots of friends who have sl jobs just for that reason, some just to have shopping money. I just mean, if it is a dream, I know you will find a way to earn the money needed. Good Luck!

I have 3 jobs in SL. None of which pay very well but it is still pay! Believe me, I am doing everything I can to earn money for this. I'm so excited and I want to take it places!

(Also, I didn't say we didn't have *any* money at all...)

Hi OceanEmolite, I read your other post.

I just typed a long way how to get investment then reconsidered as other posters had posted.

Your best best I agree is to increase your revenue inworld to invest yourself. You need a super good community manager somebody who books live acts, knows the people around the grid (this might be you) and who can bring the customers.

I would add a few more L$ to the above for advertising, get a banner on here, very well recommended.

Also, get a free blog and have listings of events and your schedules so people can keep engaged after the first visit. Post regularly.

Also jobs in SL, look at being a CSR for creators - the pay rate is considerably more than what you are getting with current work. Feel free to PM me if you want some details.

Sorry to sound harsh, but things are tight for most people right now.SL isn't a necessity like food, a roof over your head or heating and lighting.

lots of people have their dreams as regards SL, and when they can't afford it, they don't go cap in hand looking for someone else to pay money towards what is in effect their leisure budget.

In your OP you said your build will cost you 1999 lindens which you would be able to cover yourself "after a time"

If you cant even stump up 8 bucks to start yourself off, youre a piss poor investment prospect.

Why not do things that wont cost you anything for your leisure time instead of looking to mooch off of others.

I actually meant earn money in real life. Even with a minimum-wage RL job you can earn much more per hour than you can in a SL job.

Oh, BTW... this thursday I was thinking of heading out for the night and indulging in a frenzy involving 3 hookers and 10 grammes of cocaine.

I'm looking at my budget, and I'm about £100 short on my plans.

Yes, I could cut back on other things, sell some stuff I own but don't use, and cover the expense, but I'd rather ask the good people of SLU to subsidise my leisure, so I'm looking for investors.

While I can't offer any financial recompense, I will offer photographs of me getting blown by hookers high on cocaine.

you have posted for investment for 2 different businesses, you have posted about land rentals and posted about something else but i cant remember.

People will not just give you their hard earned money, and they wont invest if you are all over the place with ideas.

You are looking to have your leisure budget subsidised by others.

When cash is tight, and I can't afford a night out, or a trip to the cinema or whatever the fuck, guess what...

I do not think anyone has been rude or unkind at all in their idea's to help you make your dream come true. We have all offered suggestions, and yes......not one of them was us *investing* in your dream. I do however believe, your dream will come true, as that is the beauty of sl......you can make almost anything happen.

If money is that tight, then you could make a substantial saving by cancelling your internet subscription.

Aside from that my other advice would be to forget about any business idea until your RL financial situation improves.

Very, very few people manage to make a profit at anything in SL and even those who do, can do so only by making substantial capital investment (much more than $65). Honestly, if it was possible to make a profit on an investment that small, EVERYONE would be a SL millionaire by now.

To run a business in SL is going to eat money every month, until you have established a name for yourself, and that takes a lot of time,a nd a lot of investment in advertising.

So if you have no disposable income, then my advice to you would be to explore other things in SL, the free things, and forget about running any sort of business. Improve your real life situation first, and when you have disposable income in RL, then think about your SL business.

Many years ago, I had the chance to go to see Neil Young at the SECC....

I didn't have the cash, so, I sold my Bass Guitar, which i fucking loved.

That financed my ticket, transport, and a few drinks, and it was well worth it.

No one has been malice or cruel and everyone has been thoughtful in their responses to you. No reason to be upset that none of us are/might be just as broke as you and are coming here for the proverbial hooker gagging on Luc joke every now and then.
