Talking Looking for Dungeon Masters, Game Masters, and Storytellers

Hello everyone!

I've recently created something that I hope will spread pen and paper RPGs throughout SL. It is a completely functional and universal tabletop game system that can be used to bring your favorite game into SL to play with your friends, no matter where they might be outside SL. I've made every effort possible to emulate the home game experience so that its something you can play in your SL home.

The system comes with a working map board (with hex and square scalable grid), fog of war for the map board, complete set of dice including percentile, d100, and custom face dice (for dice that use symbols instead of numbers), cardstock miniatures that can easily be textured to add any sort of entity to the game you want (with status particles, hover height, stealth transparency, and can even be toppled over), a plug and play group chat phone that helps keep game chat separate from local chat, a working game master screen that can hold whatever pertinent documents you upload, and even glass marble counters for keeping track of things.

What it doesn't come with is you, those of you who put forth the incredible effort to spin tales and create new worlds for others to explore. I am looking for four more game masters who are willing to put our system to the test with a short campaign or one shot. In return for a free gamemaster kit to start your game with, I want feedback on what works and what doesn't, what could possibly be added to make the experience better for everyone, now and in the future.

To receive your free kit, please post a response here or send a notecard or message to Remnant Ashbourne detailing to some extent your experience as a game master and what sort of game you would run (whether a one shot or short campaign). While planned out long campaigns are definitely epic in every sense of the word, I understand that for them to be done properly they require a large amount of work beforehand and I want feedback on things to improve sooner rather than later.

Even if you don't want to run a game, I'd love to hear what miniatures others would like to see made. I'm concentrating on fantasy ones right now but I will be making cyberpunk and post apocalyptic ones as well.

Images of the game system inworld are provided below.

I've also created a free group for game masters to recruit players and players to find games. And Player Kits will always be free.

Dr Pepper! And wasabi peas.

I'm planning on making snack props at some point, but as that niche's fairly filled already, going to focus first on more functional things like working miniature containers and dice bags. And more minis... always.... more minis...

Funny, but I've always thought that avatar was more for Pokémon Go than pen and paper games.

I'm not in SL anymore, but a member of my old gaming group, which played Cyberpunk 2020, Runequest, Call of Cthulhu and Traveller is still inworld. Doll Kabuki, contact her, she might be interested.

I wish decades ago when my high school friends group sort of split between the partiers and the D&D crowd that I had made another choice. It’s super awkward now as a middle age lady to linger a little too long around those tables in comic book stores and board game cafes hoping someone will offer to teach a newbie to play this, or any of those fancy card games they seem enthralled with.

Well, now you can pick up a Piggu Johnathan avatar and head down to an SL game and fit right in!

I don't do tabletop stuff in-world (though I have considered it) but I know one or two people that do. I'll drop them a line and point them your way.

It is possible to do both, even simultaneously.

D&D is a whole 'nother experience when you're only wearing underpants and taking tokes between to-hit rolls.

In my exp, forgetting minor rules of things which involves getting the players manual out and checking while everyone rolls their eyes and then go through the same thing on their turn.

But it makes your 20's AMMMAAAZZZIIINNNGGGGgggg!!!!

Also we're usually wearing pants.

In full disclosure, the pants thing was one time. The toking however, wasn't uncommon.

Question; is there already a paper RPG presence in SL, this is just a very cool new way to expand upon it? Or is this a form of gaming that hasn't had much interest in SL before now?

Strangely I found this post strictly by accident, while searching the forum for something else, and it put some ideas into my head about a mix between my erotic storytelling, SL and table-top RPGs. But they are ideas I'd rather bounce off any existing table-top community in SL - assuming there is one.

Bound to be. It's the SL version of Rule 34 -- if it exists in RL, there is an SL version of it.

Hello!

I would say that there's a growing pen and paper presence in SL. From what I've seen, there's a number of isolated groups of friends already inworld that are either making their own tools or using Roll20 or other outside SL tabletop simulators to run games.

But I believe that there are plenty of other people that want to see more easily accessible things like the system I've been making. Ways that they can just join up with people in world to play games together that are much more casual than the typical RP sim setup. The number of people who have it has been growing steadily since this thread, so hopefully with some more time there'll be a lot more pen and paper games being run by people inworld.

For example, this year at the Fantasy Faire, one of the biggest roleplaying centered events in SL, people have hosted pen and paper games at the actual event itself for the first time ever. They played everything from D&D one shots, to Honey Heist and the Witch is Dead and would often have dozens of people coming over just to watch them play inworld.
