SL Join Date: 2007 Unjoin: 2009 | In many different forum threads (here and in the official SL Forum), and several times in this thread, it has been suggested that NPIOF users are "freeloaders" (my choice of wording, as this is how I read some of the comments, but I know you have said it is not valid for everyone). My story: For the more than one year I have used SL (2 different avatars), I have been able to put in my Credit Card info in my account information. I am therefore able to use the official SL forum. But still, when in world, my profile tells me NPIOF. I have tried several times to buy L through SL's official webpage (for both avatars), but I get error messages regarding my Visa Card - every single time I have tried. I'm using my Visa Card to buy stuff all over the world, and have never ever had a problem before, except with LL. In the end I registered an account with SLexchange, and was finally able to buy L within hours. Buying new L now is done within a few minutes. With SL it is still impossible. So I am a NPIOF SL user, but I have bought L for "quite some US dollars" through SLexchange. It's not my choice to be NPIOF. I have given LL my Credit Card information, but LL prevents me from using it with them. I would say, that as a NPIOF user, Im still contributing to the ingame economy. Now; is it really fair if I should be chosen to not be allowed to use SL? |

And who said freeloaders? Most bots ARE no pay accounts and keeping them out when SL is having problems would help. | |

LSLEditor If LL had let us just have a web page as our profile like we requested long ago, the point would be moot. The web tab doesn't quite cut it. What I'd like is the ability to insert a line of code as an HTML comment like this: <!-- SL PROFILE --> that would be replaced by the buttons (IM, Teleport, Add Friend, etc) - if there was no occurrence, place it at the bottom of the web based profile. Current profiles could be easily exported as HTML for people, who could then dump them on a free hosting service if they didn't have their own web space - and I'm thinking people like Cristiano, Yo Brewster, and OnRez would soon have much better alternatives than the profile system that hasn't been updated since, what, 2003? Regards, -Flip

You can't give up on the
World... of Warcraft!
| So yesterday I was unclear as to whether or not this would become a daily occurrence, and today when I get online I see that it has become an ongoing occurrence. I cannot use my groups and profiles right now. What a crock of shit. I am a builder and scripter and while the grid being online is a good thing I think we need to explore some other options as Flip states above. Maybe if we get a community project going we can come up with a better system to handle user info and allow us to search out and contact people without using the current in-world system. I've been goofing with some ideas as Bunnie ran into a quandry this afternoon. she needs to send an IM to someone not on her friends list. Her choices are to wait until profiles are restored or physically locate that person somehow to right click on her. If you pull the profile you cannot add that person or IM them from the profile, it just says loading. That's not working out for us. I'll let you know what I come up with, there has to be someway to get an IM to someone without using their profile or the friends list. |
