I sucked a piece of steak down my windpipe when I saw this...

What really killed me was hearing a senator describe content creation technologies as "glorious tools". For a brief moment, I thought she was referring to something...else...

God...I really do yearn for the coming zombie apocalypse.

"Virtual worlds and spaces are quickly becoming powerful tools with the potential to transform enterprise and government processes by increasing top line and bottom line growth, improving efficiency and productivity, and augmenting our ability to innovate and spur entrepreneurial growth," IBM vice president Colin Parris told the panel.

Harman cited a British newspaper report last year saying that Islamic extremists were suspected of using Second Life to recruit and mimic real-life terrorism.
Two interesting excerpts. 1.) Given the whole IBM gets it's own private grid and they go to Washington to "testify" to whatever this was. IBM is so FIC.

2.) I'd love to see some source on that.

""It is likely that virtual world activities are somewhat more policeable and the law somewhat more maintainable within virtual worlds," said Rosedale, chief executive of Linden Lab, the company that runs Second Life."

This from a man who runs the company that refuses...REFUSES...to police its own virtual world.

You could only get more hypocritical by ... oh, fuck ... my imagination is just beggared.

It allows me to hone my multitasking skills. I can eat, browse the web, irritate a PETA member, and remove a source of methane pollution (1 cow) from the environment...all at the same time.

As a former red meat eater - steak is meant to be devoured with full concentration on how fucking fantastic it tastes, with a good drink on the side and veggies.

You're demeaning it by eating it at the computer!

I'm gonna go off-topic here and not mention steak.

The one thing that gave me pause in that whole video was when Philip was talking about how well the community in SL polices themselves, and at that moment the whole senate got all jittery over the prospect of people actually governing themselves!

OMFG! What would we do without government baby-sitting us on what to do and what not!

Sorry about the threadjack, girls.

It could be a mi-steak yes. I mean, the veal deal. I'm have to grill Asher about this sometime.

Addendum:
I am now off to fry my mainframe just because of horridness of these puns.
