Oh and I'm going to tell a story, because he's asleep and I had a glass of wine.

So Adam had slept with girls before and I was curious as to how that was and while we were laying in bed I asked him about it and he turned BEET RED which I could see even in the dark and started sweating. Like srsly. All over. He was so uncomfortable and didn't want to say anything.

It was so adorable.

i just spent four hours on our kitchen.
it has a large range, hood, industrial fridge and freezer, two grilles, prep bench, scullery, two combi ovens, a garland oven, and two fryers ta free-standing pass, and a passthrough.
what i really need to make is a robot coupe and a stick blender. oh and a service bell too.

Well, I refuse to have a house. Who needs that waste of prims?

On the rare occasions these days that my RL chap comes into SL we hardly ever hang out together and he is just as likely to IM me to tell me to make a coffee or a sammich than to tell me where he is!

Interesting question, Bard.

My SL relationship started as a pure RP one and was pretty much confined to the non mundane. Over the next few months, we also settled on the mainland together. But our relationship still mainly consisted of fantastical trips, blitzkrieg shopping all over the grid and hanging out and cuddling for long periods in the skybox she built for us (I can make cubes. That's pretty much it ).

As the months went by and we started exchanging more RL details with each other, our relationship became more of a mix of the unusual and the more mundane, e.g. conversations about how our days went.

Fast forward to nearly 3 years later and we're married in real life and about to celebrate our second wedding anniversary (Eek! 2 weeks away and haven't got a present! *panic*). If we log on in SL, it's to go see fantastical sights our hang out with our friends at a party, but it happens pretty rarely these days, as having the real deal next to you kinda trumps dealing with SL lag, poseballs and the chat interface.

We've got a new project coming up (an island), and thus we'll probably spend more time online, with me trying to learn building skills by osmosis and offering unsolicited advice. Pretty mundane "moving home" stuff. But that should also be a motivation to go explore more and go have fun again.

So I think whoever mentioned an arc in relationships was right. It's started pretty much all fantastical and RP and has now settled into more of a mix of the mundane and the unusual...

Oh, I MUST have a kitchen..including the smoke billowing from any food I'm "attempting" to prepare..

Yeah it's a prim waster, but i'm just a home body at heart..

/me taps the ashes from her cigarette on the floor and shouts for her underpaid housekeeper, "Ophelia! Dammit! The dog shit on the floor again, get it up before Mr. Bertrand comes home and has a fit! Oh, and I want those banisters polished by noon.."

Thanks for all the great stories, folks. I am particularly intrigued by the poll so far:

"A little" - which was my vote - does hold the lead but only slightly. We are mostly distributed from there downward, with pure fantasy being the smallest category.

Interesting, since my original premise was that relationships in SL might be predominately fantasy-oriented, given the environment SL provides.

/strokes his beard and ponders the implications...

Well, in my case I thought that by "mundane" you were referring to no fantasy/role playing. Let's see... cuddling at home is in that sense mundane. Going to a club to dance with friends is mundane... From that perspective fantasy becomes a part of what I do in SL not all of it.

That's basically what I did mean, Don. By "fantasy", I was thinking of a couple role-playing their relationship. For example, Atia and I act out our parts as Lord and Lady of the Manor quite a bit, using much formal language and behavior, dress, settings, etc.

Then by "mundane", I meant interaction that is more like we would behave in RL toward one another. Modern idiom, familiarity, talk of RL or SL daily concerns, etc. (Reminding me of my Honey-Do's falls in that category )

So yes, the fantasy part of it is something "put on" for occasions, as opposed to the entirety of the relationship.

My SL fiance' and I are probably pretty mundane. We mostly go dancing or visiting with friends. I have a yacht which is fun. He prefers jazz, I like country wstern, so we compromise and hit a balance. He's into investments and I'm a lawyer in RL so talk a lot about investing and legal issues. He is an anchoman on a SL television station so often we talk about SL news stories or story ideas.

We enjoy physical intimacy [pixelated] a lot and I am enjoying discovering the things he likes to do in the bedroom and am pleased that I can accomodate him!
I'm really into fashion so I talk about that a lot and he pretends to be interested. he's into aviation and I feign interest in that, although it is WAY fun to go flying with him in his bi plane.

Other than the fact that we both have penises, we're a pretty normal, mundane couple.

Sooz
