Nah. Contrary to certain beliefs, I'm very easy to get along with--especially when it comes to professional jobs and collaborations.

I could say the same for you though right. I'm sure you'd be the perfect client.

I don't have an online portfolio set up as a website (other than a minimal myspace page representing Glowbox).

The way I show my work, is by giving a tour of my studios in-world. I have both 2d and 3d examples up.

Here are two locations you can start with:

Glowbox Designs main studio:

Glowbox Designs secondary studio (building, landscaping, and design all mine--partially under construction)

The best thing to do is walk around my studios--these are my 'living' portfolios. If you want a private tour, IM me in-world.

There's something I'd like to add, about the purse, and enticing 'professional' cg artists and designers to participate...

I understand that $10 USD (L3000) isn't a lot of money when it comes to a professional designer's time, but this is not what I think is the most attractive part of the event. I think the most appealing portion of the event, should be the quality of all things involved.

Firstly, the event is constructed with an eye for design, and a passion for the 'industry.' The way things are built, laid out, designed, and run are all top-notch.

Secondly, the talent already involved (contestants, judges, and sponsors), and the competition pieces that go up for display are fantastic. Some very talented artists (some RL professional artists) are already involved, and it is because of this competition and crowd, that other professional artists want to participate and join in the fray.

Also, on top of the purse, the event location houses a 'winner's circle.' The winner's model is placed on display for a month--along side this I create a very nice poster of the winner and his or her model to be displayed with the model. And lastly, the winner goes on the 'Past Winners' wall of fame. This is not only great gloating material, but if you have a company, it's a fantastic opportunity to get some great advertising.

The purse is really just a nice addition...it shouldn't be the reason a professional, working cg artist or designer chooses to join. However, for beginners and novices, the purse is actually quite substantial to them.

Anyhow. I just wanted to explain these things again...I put a lot of my own time into this event, and all I look for in return is community and participation. I do it because I love to--and it's this attitude I look for in future participants.

Thanks everyone.

I don't think it's necessary to justify the prize amount at all Michael. It is a lot more than most other SL prizes.

I actually did do a search before the links went up and came had a look around. I can see the attraction and have to agree whilst the prize money is higher than most comps I don't think it would be the primary factor in participating for many of those likely to get involved.

The model is very pro looking btw.

I also spent a good hour wandering around the sims and enjoyed it immensly. What a 'clean' space! I even found Glowbox tucked away down a little alley.

I almost bought your 10L$ Laptop as I thought it cool.....but am on an inventory purge at the mo and resisted the urge!!! Likewise the cherry pie

So shines a good deed in a weary world.

Cheers, I'm glad you enjoyed yourself. Yes Silicon Island is an extremely clean space--two sims of professional design and architecture, on top of strict business ethic. I love it there.

BTW: your forum avatar rocks.

fyi, I was joking about the money but not about not being able to do this right now.

I won't go into it because I'm sick of hearing myself whine but I'm not really physically capable of any serious work right now.

I will look again next month, Michael promise.

And I really did like the model but alas, I cannot.

Stranger things have been known to happen. Ha! I'm kidding. Hopefully my schedule permits a custom job. Depending on your needs Josh...I may or may not be able to accept. Wait a minute...you haven't offered yet. Again...I'm just Joshing! Oh that's perfect.

How did I guess it'd be more patronization instead of just quietly giving us the SLurl?

Woo.

Honestly, it wasn't patronization--I was being light-hearted when I was thinking it, and posting it.

Sorry it came across like that to you.

Cheers.

Here are the top three winners! Awesome texturing jobs. (No, the GBD turntable is not me, it's a designer that works for me).

1. Slartibartfast Sands
2. Cera Graves
3. Alisha Matova

You really do have to get close up to see all the finer details. Come on by!

Hijacked!

Just kidding...sorta. Well, if you personally know this texture artist, send them my way. I'd love to put them in the mix.
