So ok, I fill this out and drop it off at Glowbox?

I like the model, it will be fun.
Yes, you grab the information/sign up notecard, read it thoroughly, fill out the bottom, and drop it in the mail tray in the reception area of Glowbox Designs.

All landmarks are inside the sign up sheet.

I also note the complete lack of SLurl in the OP.

Telling me that the LM's are in a notecard in-world....somewhere...

I had to do a search in SL, Michael, to find it.

The purse isn't really that big... I mean, if you spend about 2 hours at the least really putting a lot of time and thought into your work, you're only competing for 10 dollars. Two hours for ten dollars is less than minimum wage and you're not even guaranteed to get it. I know you'd do it for fun, and it's more than a lot of Second Life contests out there, but it's also not complete madness to not want to go for it.

Besides it's just another excuse not to work on Lucifer's skin if I do anything. Why am I so afraid of skins, I don't know, I will texture just about anything.

And before Michael gets mad at me, let me just say that Io doesn't just "texture" something. Io works herself into a state of exhaustion trying to make things "perfect".

Io you want to make me metallic textures for my product line?

I can't texture for crap and I'm thinking of hiring someone to make a handful of exclusive-to-me textures that I can use in my store.

Dropped you a test pattern I use to set direction/alignment/scaling before applying the real texture.

Oh come on guys....

You can't do a search for "NOT JUST ANOTHER"?

There is only one result you'll get, and one land mark to teleport you there.

Yes, I need to set up a Slurl, but it's really just as fast to search and TP there.

Wow. OK.

Remember, this is SL...not level design for Valve.

If you look around at all of the competitions SL has...L3000 is a hell of a lot to win in one fell swoop. Second place is L1500, and 3rd place is L500. In my experience, that's a pretty high range for one competition.

If you don't want to 'go for it' because the prize money isn't high enough...well then the competition isn't for you I suppose.

If you are looking at the purse, and think it's not worth your time as a professional, real world designer, then what can be said? I wouldn't want to waste anyone's time with this event.

I think the prizes are very attractive and respectable.

The way I see it is, you can't always make in SL what you make in RL. For the most part...the two economies, and the tasks performed within are not on the same level.

Shall I give 1st prize L10,000...would that be more suitable to attract professional designers?

I'm sorry if I sound a little annoyed...it's not at anyone in particular, it's at the way some people treat the SL economy, and their time spent in it. I mean, I'm a professional cg artist and designer, and I spend a ton of my own time putting this together, making it work, organizing it, and bringing talent together...what do I get out of it? No one is paying ME?

See what I mean? It's all relative.

Oh come on...lol. You guys are such divas. It takes the same amount of time to search for it in-world (only one result) then it does being here, clicking the Slurl, going back into SL, waiting for the thingie to pop up, and clicking teleport.

How easy can you get?

Ahhh...so that's how it's going to be. Naysayers talking the competition down and nudging people not to participate.

I'm kidding. Really.

IO...come on...it's a small model this month--it won't take that long to texture.

What am I chopped liver? I'm hosting a texturing competition, and have been at it for over a dozen years...don't think to ask me?

I'm just joshing.

I think actually "oh just search for it, I don't need to make a SLURL" is more divaish personally.

Anyway I'm not meaning to critique your competition, especially as I am not participating in it, but in any thing I want people to do I will make it as easy as possible for them to do it. Every post that is "how do I do this?" and not "oh awesome I'm doing it right now!" detracts. If I were placing information for an event, or something I was selling, I would be sure I had given anyone interested as much info as possible.

I wouldn't say "Oh you can just search for it," because people are lazy, and the effort spent on that is going to turn off people who were on the fence.

That's just me though!

And naturally this business model is the same one I (normally) abide by. If you look at the event, the layout, the information cards, and the posts...I usually make it pretty easy.

Honestly, I had never set up a SLURL before, so I wasn't sure how. But now I know...so there you go.

And I'm not saying, 'Oh come on, look it up for yourself.' I'm not saying that like a diva...I'm saying it as a friend...in a joking way. It's really very quick to do a search that houses only one result.

I agree, regardless. Thank you.

Well I'm not a mind-reader, I don't know what you do. If you have a portfolio of work and related pricing I would be happy to take a look if you're volunteering yourself.

If I hosted a basket weaving competition, and you needed a wicker basket, would you ask IO...or me?

I'm totally joking with you.
