Boy, that sounds devious, doesn't it?

I have a bunch of my old houses that I want to give away, but I don't want to deal with even more messages of "YOU DIRTY MOTHERFUCKER GET YOUR HOUSE OFF MY LAND OR I'LL KILL YOUR FACE" that I get every week because I gave freebie houses to the Lindens.

Is there a way I can change the creator tag to something/someone else (say, an old alt) so I don't get so many retarded IMs?

Change the root prim.

If they're nomod, you can give them to an old alt and have them attach a root prim created by them so that the entire object will appear to've been created by them.

I've been dealing for years with yahoos who are reselling my freebie crap houses with some ugly textures and shit on them, and thus getting angry messages from morons asking why i'm putting houses everywhere.

Yes, you would have to make the freebies no-mod. Which you really should do anyway, because freely available mod objects quickly become confusing griefer toys.

Otherwise you'd have to use something like copybot to recreate the set on an alt.

Go to work for Linden Lab as a systems analyst so you have access to the databases and can write a script to change the creator value in all the prims of the objects using SQL statements. It should only take a few minutes, you can have lunch with Philip, then quit.

Oh wait, LL don't have systems analysts maintaining normalized relational tables. Your properly constructed SQL would as likely delete half of my inventory as change the owner tags on any of Ingrid's. Oh well the good news is that you could keep trying because they'd never be able to track down what was going wrong all over the grid. When it eventually worked, you might still have time for a drink with Philip before you quit.

While you're there please reimplement a transparency layer for avatar skins so I can stop using freaking animations to make tiny avatars. Thanks.

Make a script that reads the primative paramaters off each prim, then have it turn around and rez a prim and alter the prim a few meters away. You will still need the textures, you will need to drop this script into each prim of the build, and a prim of your alts making into each prim of the build. The end result will be a prim-prim reproduction with the alts name as creator.

[7 AM] Me: You realize I'm not the owner, right? The creators of objects can't edit or modify their customer's items. If they installed the ability to do so, it would actually be against the TOS. It's effectively illegal. Message the owner of the item. Besides, if you own the land, you can return the object by right clicking on it and selecting "Return"

I mean, this is something I should be rational on. I don't know why though but I see red every single time I get a message like this, even if it's polite.
