Business: The Wastelands Client: Official Newest | This is a piece of work. So now we can report bugs, but we can't share them with each other. Nor can we vote, or comment on them. I've been reporting bugs for years, I think I am done at this point.

I don't want your damn lemons, what am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager. Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons. Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down! With the lemons. I'm going to to get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down! -- Cave Johnson |

Basically, once the current JIRA is worked through, we can no longer link to each other and go, "Look, this one has been open for five years!" |

Business: The Wastelands Client: Official Newest | LL should ban people who abuse the JIRA, not lock up the JIRA from everyone. LL should also open up more avenues of communication, so angry people don't crap on all the genuinely good bug reporting with their white hot rage. JIRAs should not be private, because SL is broken OFTEN. It's important to look up issues to make sure it's not just you. |

SL Join Date: 9/25/2005 | Oz said it himself at SLCC 2010... "It's our JIRA. You lose." So, I think the subtext of this latest message from the lab is loud and clear: NSFW

My Mood: | This is nuts. Being unable to search the Jira ... makes it impossible to help other users with problems in the platform ... impossible to tailor one's own experience to avoid existing problems .... They must be planning to shut down development on SL. I can't imagine rolling out new features with, effectively, no users reporting issues. Their new wiki entries seem to indicate that the only bugs they are interested in having reported are security exploits. It's tempting, terribly tempting, to put up a shadow Jira server for users. |

Client: Always changing, and too lazy to edit. | I took their survey and suggested that even if they want to block cross commenting, they should still allow visibility. I don't see the harm in being able to check if something has been reported already, or linking pertinent issues. They should really reconsider that. |

SL Join Date: 06/12/08 | I am not going to spend my time filling out a comprehensive bug report only to find out it was a waste of time because it has already been reported. Previously I would check through, and find that many bugs had already been spotted, and then add my own information, or create a new one if it didn't seem to have been raised. I'm also currently helping a friend with a connection problem by looking at the JIRA current and solved issues, and it has proved useful in that. Helping LL should be a two-way street - now it is one one-way I have to conclude that my input is no longer required. |

My Mood: | The sad thing is that it seems they are decreasing user interaction with the system because of some FUD usual suspects. The thing is that the JIRA pages can be indirectly helpful in spreading information about useful workarounds and non-SL fixes. For example, I was having an odd crash issue that occurred when I clicked the upload button. Well, it turned out it was a conflict between SL and Skydrive. A user on a JIRA explained how to fix it quickly. This decision is just very disappointing on many levels. |

My Mood: SL Join Date: 4/28/2005 Blog Entries: 4 | So much of the creativity in SL has always hinged on users fixing problems, creating workarounds, and educating one another. This could certainly all go on purely on third party sites, but then it's even further removed from LL's direction and input. |

Client: Always changing, and too lazy to edit. | Some of us from the SL Beta group have splintered off a new group where we will share and dissiminate important jira reports and eventually create a 'shadow jira' of sorts for people to reference. More info as we have it will be made available. We're just jumping off on this now. |

| Senior Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I wonder if Linden Lab has taken into consideration how much of a customer support burden is lifted from them by the residents who participate in processes like the JIRAs and use that knowledge to, in turn, help people like me on forums like this one or the official forums. In 5+ years, I have had lots of problems using Second Life. But I have only filed maybe 2 or 3 support tickets and used Live Chat I think 3 times. That's because I can get answers to fix most of my problems quickly and reliably by asking on a forum first. |

SL Join Date: 06/12/08 | I don't think LL ever realised what a good resource the JIRA was for resident help - the old copy of the Bug Tracker Wiki page stated: Quote:
